The Shattered Space DLC has some new quests to pick up and it will take you around the new areas of Starfield. Completing these quests is crucial so you can get rewards and reach the end of the game. Veteran players would have known that the DLC will also contain certain choices that might give you a different outcome, depending on what you pick. During the Promised Broken quest, you have a few choices to make and also pick up an Effigy. Starfield Shattered Space The Promised Broken Quest – All Choices and Effigies
There are four Effigies you can pick during the quest, and each time you choose a combination you will unlock a new title. We will explain how this works below

You will reach a section of the Promised Broken quest where you need to pick out a combination of two effigies out of the four effigies present. If you haven’t reached this section of the quest yet, the path towards it is simple. Just follow the quest marker towards four different checkpoints within Serpent’s Path. At the first checkpoint, you will learn about House Va’ruun and have a task to blow out the candles. Any choice you make here will not impact the quest. The second checkpoint you will find a lit brazier next to the memorial. You can either choose to toss any junk into it, or let it be
Later, you will reach the third checkpoint, and here you have to jump across the waterfall. You can either take the leap, or take the stairs from the right side of the memorial to cross the falls and reach the final two checkpoints. In the fourth checkpoint, you need to walk across poisoned water, but it doesn’t deal too much damage so you can quickly get across. At the final checkpoint, you can either choose to sacrifice the Groat, or just simply walk past it. Sacrificing the Groat will cement your loyalty with House Va’ruun, but it is not a requirement.
All Effigies in Starfield and What They Mean
Now you will be taken to the room where you can find four different Effigies on the platform. The four Effigies are as follows
- Effigy of Devotion
- Effigy of Strength
- Effigy of Obedience
- Effigy of Perseverance
Your task here is to pick two different Effigies. Upon doing so, you will unlock a unique title that will be bestowed on you by House Va’ruun. You will be addressed throughout the game with your chosen title anytime you encounter anyone from House Va’ruun. Below are all the effigy combinations you can create and the titles you get from each
- Devotion and Obedience – Reverent
- Strength and Perseverance – Vindicator
- Obedience and Strength – Armiger
- Obedience and Perseverance – Adherent
- Devotion and Strength – Harbinger
- Devotion and Perseverance – Diviner
Your choice will not matter in the long run, so you can just consider this a fun interaction with the members of House Va’ruun
Do the Dialog Choices Matter in The Promised Broken Quest?
Whatever dialog choice you make throughout this quest will not impact the game in any way, so you are free to choose whatever dialog choices you want while interacting with Inaza, Malibor Dul’kehf, and Ekris.
