Spicy Shards are a critical high-level crafting material in Grounded 2, especially for players looking to craft top-of-the-line late-game gear like the Spicy Coaltana. Spicy Shards do not spawn at random, and they can only be acquired by gathering a particular resource—Spicy Candy—spread across distant parts of Brookhollow Park.
Navigating the vast world of Grounded 2, with its congested landscape and deceptive heights, discovering these areas can be tricky. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know about how to acquire Spicy Shards, from tool requirements to best farming routes.
How to Harvest Spicy Shards
To begin collecting Spicy Shards, you’ll first need to locate Spicy Candy, recognizable by its bright red, pepper-like appearance. These candy pieces are embedded in the environment and require a Tier 2 Omni-Hammer to break. Upon harvesting, each candy yields between two and five Spicy Shards, which drop in small yellow fragments.
Tool Requirement: Tier 2 Omni-Hammer
Before attempting to crush Spicy Candy, ensure that you have made the Tier 2 Omni-Hammer. To achieve this, proceed to a Ranger Station and use the following items:
- 1x Ladybug Head
- 3x Lingonberry Leather
- 2,000 Raw Science
Once made, the Tier 2 Omni-Hammer efficiently crushes Spicy Candy, and it is easy to get shards.
Best Location: The Picnic Table
Of all ground farm spots in Grounded 2, the Picnic Table offers the most accessible and concentrated source of Spicy Candy. There are seven pieces of Spicy Candy in this spot alone, so it’s the optimal method for earning high counts immediately.
To reach the Picnic Table, climb the folded picnic cloth near its edge. At the top, a Spicy Candy will be directly in front of you. Beneath the folds of the cloth, another piece can be found tucked under. Moving deeper onto the table, you’ll come across three stacked Hot Cha Chas boxes, guarded by an Orb Weaver Jr. One Spicy Candy lies under the boxes, and another is perched on top.
Next, walk over the croquet mallet to the other side of the table. Here, there is a locked Picnic Table Briefcase. Open it using the combination 137 (left dial) and 514 (right dial). Three more Spicy Candies are found within for harvesting.
Other Notable Locations
While the Picnic Table is the first place to go, Spicy Candy can be found in a couple of spots elsewhere around Brookhollow Park. These spots give you extra shards if you want more than the table gives you:
- Trash Can (Entrance Area): Two Spicy Candies are on the surface of the lid of the trash can. It requires some platforming skill to get up top, but it is easily worth it.
- Snack Bar Table (Southwest of BURG.L’s Head): Another Spicy Candy is found near the edge of a wooden table in front of the snack bar. It sits alongside a Hot Cha Chas box, which also holds an Orb Weaver nest underneath it.
- Hidden Cave (West of Picnic Table): There’s an unmarked cave west of the Picnic Table that contains a Spicy Candy and some Raw Science. To access the inner room where the candy is located, hug the right wall of the cave while avoiding or defeating the burrowing Northern Scorpion Jr. You’ll need your Red Soldier Ant Buggy to progress safely through this cave.
