The Demon Tomb is a complex puzzle within the “A Study in Fear” quest of the Indiana Jones game. This elaborate puzzle requires the player to decipher a series of riddles that use symbols as their base and strategically uses three unique keys to defuse a trio of threatening demon statues. The careful arrangement of symbols on spinning wheels and the placement of keys in the correct order are such that players can finally unlock the secrets of the tomb and move forward with their adventure.
How to Solve the Demon Tomb Puzzle
When you first go inside, you’ll see a tall pillar in the middle with three scary demon statues around it. There are also three other pillars with four spinning wheels on each. You have to figure out how to stop the spinning wheels on each of these three pillars. Once you do, one of the demon statues will disappear. You have to do this three times to get rid of all the demons, and then you can move on to the next part.
Cross and Diamond Key
The special key, called the Cross and Diamond Key, is at the very top of the room. Annika will tell you to look at the Bird’s Nest to find it. To get the key, you need to use the grapple pointl to swing across to different platforms. First, swing across to the right, then up, and then across again. Keep moving left until you see a shiny thing on a platform below. Jump down and grab it! That’s the Cross and Diamond Key.
How to Solve the Pedestals
Each of the three pillars has four spinning wheels. Each wheel has two of the same symbol: either circles, diamonds, or crosses. Your goal is to use the special keys to stop the wheels so that all the symbols on each pillar line up.
You have three keys:
- Cross and Diamond Key: This key stops the wheels with crosses and diamonds.
- Cross and Circle Key: This key stops the wheels with crosses and circles.
- Circle Key: This key stops the wheels with circles.
You’ll need to use the right key at the right time to align the symbols on each pillar. Once you’ve aligned all the symbols on a pillar, one of the demon statues will disappear. You’ll need to do this for all three pillars to open the way to the next part. To solve the puzzle, follow these steps:
Pedestal A:
- Use the Cross and Diamond Key.
- Use the Cross and Circle Key.
- Use the Circle Key.
Pedestal B:
- Use the Cross and Circle Key.
- Use the Circle Key.
Pedestal C:
- Use the Cross and Diamond Key.
- Use the Cross and Circle Key.
Once you’ve done this, all the demon statues will sink into the ground. Now, you can go to the central pillar and place the keys in the correct order:
- Left: Circle Key
- Middle: Cross and Circle Key
- Right: Cross and Diamond Key
Once you place the keys correctly, the central pillar will also sink into the ground. This will reveal a lever. Pull the lever, and the big demon head statue in front of you will open up. Inside, you’ll find the idol of Yaksha. This will help you move forward in the quest “A Study in Fear.”
