The Archon decision in Dragon Age: The Veilguard is actually the point in time whereby a very vital choice will be made between Maevaris or Dorian to take on the role of the Archon of Miranthous. The ending of the “Soul of a City” quest, which players make, will have dramatic repercussions in the city’s future as well as the fate of its people. Both candidates have unique qualities as well as strengths, though it is finally the option of the player that will create and write the story, deciding the new direction for Miranthous.

Should Maevaris or Dorian Become the Archon

You’ll see the choice you need to make at the end of the “Soul of a City” quest. This happens after Rook finishes gathering information and comes back to the Shadow Dragons’ base. If Rook decides to help Treviso after finishing the main quest “A Warden’s Best Friend,” then Dorian will automatically become the city’s leader. You won’t be able to choose between Dorian and Maevaris anymore.

Should Maevaris Become the Archon

If you choose Maevaris, she will definitely become the leader of Miranthous by the end of the game. You’ll see this happen during the final credits of the game.

Should Dorian Become the Archon

Similarly, if you choose Dorian, he will become the leader of Miranthous at the end of the game. You’ll see this outcome during the final credits.

Choosing between Maevaris and Dorian will only affect the ending credits of the game, not the main story. So, pick the character you think would be the best leader for Miranthous.  Ultimately, the player’s decision will shape the future of the city and its people. Whether you choose the experienced and noble Maevaris or the charismatic and idealistic Dorian it is up to you.
