Pollip Hearts in Pharloom are unique as rare purple flowers found only in Shellwood. They are not just collectibles—gathering them is at the center of the Rite of the Pollip, a questline that involves an NPC named Greyroot.
Because Shellwood is riddled with spike traps, tiny platforms, and aggressive foes, finding all six Pollip Hearts can be tricky. This guide will walk you through every location and how to satisfy Greyroot’s craving.
How to Start the Rite of the Pollip
You’ll first need to meet Greyroot, an NPC located in the lower-central area of Shellwood. She lives in a small hut along the left wall of the second elevator shaft. Speak to her, and she’ll ask Hornet to collect six Pollip Hearts scattered across the region.
While you can collect some of these flowers early, it is recommended that you kill Sister Splinter first. Not only is she the zone’s main boss, but killing her also gives the Cling Grip ability, which you require to scale Shellwood’s vertical shafts.
Pollip Heart Locations in Shellwood
1. Elevator Shaft Chamber
In the same shaft that leads to Greyroot’s hut, climb to the top-right corner of the chamber. Clear the buzzing flies and strike the purple flower there.
2. Cavern to Bellhart
From the bench on the right side of Shellwood, exit through the lower-right passage. This route loops back toward Bellhart. Use Cling Grip to scale the ledges, then strike the large flower near the top wall.
3. Shrine Chamber (Cling Grip Room)
In the cave where the shrine to get Cling Grip is, check the middle-left wall before heading to the top. Cut vines to find a hidden nook containing the Pollip Heart.
4. Pond Corridor
In the corridor that connects the shrine and the right-hand bench/elevator, look above the central pond. Pogo jump up via the white flowers and reach the purple bud in the ceiling.
5. Looping Passageway
Leave the shrine room via the top-right exit. Follow the looping pathway (right, up, left, and down once more) until you see vines covering a side alcove. Cut them to discover the fifth Pollip Heart.
6. Hidden Passage from Bellhart
From Sister Splinter, take the right-hand route until you’re back in Bellhart. You’ll reach a room filled with bell-covered monsters and another Lost Flea. Head down to the bottom, then left into a hidden passage back into Shellwood.
Here, navigate carefully through spikes and enemies until you see vines in the bottom-left corner. Cut them down to reach the final purple flower.
Reward – Pollip Pouch
Once you’ve gathered all six Pollip Hearts, return to Greyroot’s hut. She’ll reward you with the Pollip Pouch, a charm-like accessory that imbues Hornet’s throwable tools with venom, adding some extra bite to her arsenal.
The quest can be a grind, but completing the Rite of the Pollip has you departing with one of Shellwood’s most unique upgrades.
