The Trial of Sekhemas is a level 22 challenge where the key risk is losing your Honour, a special currency that cannot be restored with Flasks. You progress through the trial’s seven rooms and face various challenges, including a boss fight with Rattlecage, the Earthbreaker. Completing the trial successfully allows you to choose a new Ascension Class, with the option to repeat the trial for further rewards and growth.
Maraketh Shrine Explained
Maraketh shrine is a shrine you come across during the Trial of the Sekhemas. You can use Sacred Water to buy Honour at these shrines. The Trial of Sekhemas is a level 22 challenge, so it’s recommended that you be at a similar level before attempting it. The primary danger here is not losing your Life, but rather your Honour, which acts as a special currency during the trial.
Honour is crucial for the Trial of Sekhemas. You begin with 646 Honour, but each time you get hit, you lose Honour, and it cannot be restored with Flasks like your Life. If your Honour reaches zero, the trial will end in failure. To start the trial, approach the Relic Altar in the center of the room and place the coin in the middle slot. From there, you can choose Relics to add to the altar, each offering different benefits to help you in the trial.
Trial of Sekhemas Explained
The Trial of Sekhemas consists of seven rooms, each with its own challenge, plus a boss fight at the end. The first room will present a random challenge, but the rest of the rooms allow you to choose your encounters. Some of the challenges you may face include the Escape Trial, where you must activate Death Crystals before time runs out, and the Gauntlet Trial, which involves fighting enemies and activating levers to unlock doors.
After you complete the first room, you will be exposed to the Trial Map, where you can choose which challenge you would like to pursue. Each of the options comes with its own rewards and handicaps, so you have to weigh your choices carefully. If you are low on Life or Honour, opting for safer challenges is advisable, but some riskier trials could lead to greater rewards, such as Sacred Water that can be spent on Boons with Balbala.
How to defeat Rattlecage
Finally, the last challenge in the Trial of Sekhemas is a boss fight against Rattlecage, the Earthbreaker. He is a powerful foe with fiery attacks, including punching the ground to create explosions of lava and splitting the earth to release more lava. As you reduce his Life, lava will begin raining down from the sky, making the fight even more perilous. While Rattlecage is slow, his attacks are devastating, so keeping your distance and using ranged attacks will be your best strategy.
Defeating Rattlecage with at least some Honour remaining will complete the Trial of Sekhemas. Afterward, you can collect your rewards and proceed to the Altar of Ascendancies, where you can choose one of two Ascension Classes. To further enhance your Ascendancy Class, you will need to repeat the trial. Each successful completion adds a new floor to the trial, and you will need another coin to attempt it again. Be careful, as failure will cost you the coin, and you will need to find another to continue.
How to Use Maraketh shrine
At the end of certain trials in the Trial of the Sekhemas, you can use Sacred Water to purchase Honour. This is the same shrine mentioned earlier, so make sure to keep it in mind as you go through the challenges. You need to spend 5 Sacred Water at one of the shrines to receive a boon or restore your Honour.
