Herminia, the Master of Wealth, is one of the first major foes you’ll be facing in Octopath Traveller 0. Like Auguste and Tytos, she fights in two phases, and both of them are quite difficult when you go in unprepared. The right lineup, a few healing items, and some SP-restoring items bring the battle much more within your grasp. Here is what you should expect and how to bring her down.

Phase one: Lady Herminia

The battle begins with Herminia, accompanied by her Lady in Waiting, and you’re better off taking out the attendant first. She goes down easily and has a pretty distinct set of weaknesses: Axe, Bow, Staff, Fan, Wind, with only eight shields guarding her. When she’s down, you can devote your full attention to Herminia.

Herminia herself is sturdier, with 12 shields and weaknesses to Dagger, Axe, Tome, Lightning, and Dark. Characters like Alexia really shine here thanks to her access to Tome, Lightning, and Dark abilities. Throughout the phase, Herminia will frequently apply SP sap, eating away at your SP over time. It’s slow but adds up, so bring a few SP-restoring items to keep your skills flowing.

Phase Two: Herminia the Huntress

Once transformed, Herminia possesses the same weaknesses, which makes the transition rather smoother than one might think. She still drains SP, but her new danger comes in the form of Sleep Attacks, so keep those Herbs of Awakening on hand unless you want half of your team snoozing through key turns.

During this phase, Herminia will also summon Manifestations of Mental Decay. These ads are the real threat of the second half. Each has a four-turn timer, and if you don’t destroy them in time, they’ll unleash a devastating attack that can wipe out party members outright. They share most of Herminia’s weaknesses but swap Daggers for Swords, so adjust your targeting accordingly.
(One important thing to remember: if a Manifestation uses All-Attack Counter Stance, stop attacking. Anyone hitting it while it’s in that stance will fall asleep in an instant, and that can be quite a momentum killer when you need it the most.)
