Mona is one of the featured characters in this Update 2.8’s Golden Apple Archipelago. She has her own island and domain and many players who have her are using her lately for exploration and overall damage support. Despite being an old character, Mona still remains relevant to this day for being one of the best damage-boosting supports in the game and veterans will remember her in every one-shot DPS showcases back in the day.
In this article, we’re gonna refresh our memory on her best-in-slot weapons and see if anything’s changed since her early days of being part of the support meta.
Best Catalysts for Mona in Genshin Impact
Mona is a 5-star Hydro catalyst user that needs a lot of Energy Recharge and is best used as damage support for the party. She’s one of the 5-stars available in the Standard Banner so many players may have already had her.
For convenience, we’re going to list Mona’s best catalysts in the 3 following categories.
5-Star Rarity: Skyward Atlas
This weapon gives your Mona consistent damage and is the best option overall if you have it. The bonus attack percentage bonus greatly buffs Mona’s burst damage and also allows your Mona to stay on-field to deal more damage through your Normal attacks. The weapon also gives a flat 12% elemental damage bonus so Mona can cash in on that too.
4-Star Rarity
There are 2 weapons in this category and we’ll go over them one by one.
The Widsith
The Widsith is the best 4-star option overall for a damage boosting or damage dealing catalyst user and Mona fits into that role comfortably. The Crit damage bonus along with a chance to get an increased attack, elemental damage or elemental mastery can allow for some crazy numbers- though it isn’t as reliable as the Skyward Atlas. The Widsith sill has the chance to give you the highest damage numbers depending on your luck and the game’s RNG for one of the better passive effects to proc.
Favonius Codex
The Favonius Codex, especially at higher refinements is the best for Freeze comps and a reliable support weapon in general for Mona. Mona needs that extra energy recharge to have her burst up at all times and thankfully she also gets some of her damage from her ER. With those in mind, this weapon is a versatile weapon that can not only give her more damage but also solve her ER issues. Additionally, with a high enough crit rate you can spam her E over and over again to keep your enemies taunted, frozen or electrocharged until they perish.
Free-to-Play or Craftable: Mappa Mare
Mappa Mare is a craftable 4-star Elemental Mastery catalyst that gives an 8% Elemental DMG boost every time its user causes a reaction. This effect can stack twice. Mona would benefit from this weapon as it not only boosts her reactions but also easily gives her a flat 16% Elemental Damage boost which is huge.
If you don’t have any of the above weapons yet and are still in your early levels in the game, the 3-star Thrilling Tales of Dragon Slayers is a viable option as it boosts the rest of your party’s attack by a whopping 48%. You won’t even need to level up this weapon as you get this bonus just by having it on a character.
