Lucy is a psychic mini-boss in Act One of the Alley of Mewgenics. She’s brutal when it comes to tackling her opponents so a good strategy is a must against. In this guide, we have outlined everything you need to know in order to beat this boss easily!

What Makes Lucy Dangerous

There is no limit to how wrathful Lucy can be towards you and your party members. She traps you with her effects and punishes the units for being out of position or in a place where she doesn’t want them to be. If you’re on the wrong tile, even for an instant, it can result in freeze, burn, and wasted turns where everything gets chaotic in the small arena very quickly. In this fight, you need to be heavily focused on your positioning and survival, and not just burst damage.

The optimal situation is having a balanced group:

  • Frontline unit to take hits and damage
  • Healer to keep team stable
  • Melee damage dealer for close range damage
  • Ranged attacker for safe distance damage

This set-up provides you with an opportunity to resist Lucy’s pressure while keeping your whole team in safety. The Frontline unit draws attention from the enemy, while the Healer keeps them alive and Damage Dealers can attack their targets from a distance or even behind Lucy when possible.

Strategy to Defeat Lucy

While trying to memorize every single spell Lucy will cast isn’t a good use of your focus, it’s better to be aware of her safe positioning and how to keep your team safe. Don’t put units too closely together or they will be vulnerable to punishment; also avoid wasting time on diagonal tiles that have no significant benefit. The area directly in front of Lucy should be treated as a trap formed by her abilities, not as the path to approach her in safety.

Instead of running at her in an attempt to attack her as soon as she starts casting, you should use this time to move your units around and reposition yourself and your team. Lucy is generally fairly predictable, and you can easily see what she is about to do and what spell she intends to use, giving you an opportunity to reposition fragile units out of trouble and prepare for an effective, on-time attack against her.

Positioning Priorities

  • Maintain distance between your ranged units.
  • Your tank should be directly facing towards Lucy.
  • Keep your healer outside of the centre and put them on the outskirts of the battle area.
  • Look for opportunities to attack from behind with your melee unit.

If your frontline has tools that either redirect attacks or allow you to swap places with other teammates, use them aggressively, as they can completely nullify Lucy’s ability to punish poorly positioned team members.

How to Win Consistently

One of the largest errors that players make when facing off against Lucy is attempting to finish her off too quickly. Lucy punishes players for being impatient; therefore, your best option is to slow down the encounter, respect her space control, and chip away at her health rather than trying to make a risky play by finishing her off too quickly.

Once you have gotten used to how to counter Lucy’s area control and how to have your team spread out properly, she will stop feeling like an overwhelming opponent and become a controlled encounter that can be repeated.
