Jinming Pool Quest Guide & Secrets Achievement – Where Winds Meet

The Jinming Pool quest in Where Winds Meet is one of the significant Campaign missions set in Kaifeng. It’s a mix of political intrigue, stealth, puzzles, and a full infiltration sequence that eventually unlocks a new Campaign boss. The mission is fairly long, so having a clean walkthrough makes things much smoother.

This is a step-by-step guide through all parts of the Jinming Pool quest, from a banquet in the Baojin Tower to the very final battle with Murong Yuan.

How to Start the Jinming Pool Campaign Quest

Head to Baojin Tower in the North Imperial Garden, southwest of Kaifeng City. Be sure to go to the banquet hall on the third floor between Shou hour and You hour. A cutscene will trigger almost immediately. After it finishes, talk to the NPC handling the eagle to formally start the Jinming Pool quest.

Invite the Three Guests

Murong Yuan will ask you to gather three guests for the banquet. Just follow the quest markers on your map, speak with each guest, and you’ll be automatically teleported back to the hall. Once the meeting is over, speak with Murong Yuan and Lord Zhao to continue.

Infiltrate Jinming Pool

Enter the Waterway

Jump from the palace square onto the nearest flagpost, then onto the rooftop, and dive into the water. Swim down the waterway and eavesdrop on plans being discussed by the envoy.

Track the Envoy

Exit the other side of the canal and navigate the rooftops. Stay out of sight and off the streets until the envoy boards his ship.

Boarding the Ship

You’ll be working under a time limit here. Your tasks are simple:

• Knock out the envoy in order to obtain the Boarding Token
• Defeat the guard captain to take the Commander’s Token
• Combine both to get the Tally and use it on the elevator.

There’s a bug where the elevator leaves without you, so stick to the corner and continue walking until you get to the ship.

Reaching the Command Deck

Once you’re inside the ship, make your way through the Living Cabin until you reach an elevator that will take you up to the top deck. Follow the quest marker inside the commander’s cabin and interact with the wine cup on the table.

Solution to the “Relieving Generals of Command Over Wine” Puzzle

You’ll have to set up four statues in front of four paintings in the correct order. Here’s a quick reference:

If placed correctly, the pillars rise and two doors open. The right door hides a chest, but the left door continues the quest.

Investigating the Secret Chamber

Search all the glowing objects for the key, map, and warship diagram. There will be a cutscene, and you’ll use the floor panel to descend deeper into the ship.

Reaching the Bottom of the Warship

Fight your way through the lower decks, using floor panels to keep going down. You will eventually end up in a flooded cabin that consists of several smaller rooms.

Cabin Puzzle Summary

• Pull the central lever. 
• Go to the eastern cabin, shoot the bell, and open the gate with Meridian Touch. 
• Do the same in the western cabin 
• After raising the water, use the chains to reach a platform above. 
• Hit another bell, then unlock another Shattered Jade seal. 
• Pull the final lever. 

This restores the water level and opens up the path to the next part of the quest.

Boss Fight: Murong Yuan 

Murong Yuan has two phases to her fight. The second includes her wooden eagle, making the battlefield most chaotic. First, focus on Murong Yuan while avoiding the swooping of the eagle. Have your Meridian Touch ready to interrupt her special attacks. Once she falls, you’ll be taken to Bian River Gate. 

Quest Completion 

Dive into the river and find the floating fragments. This concludes the Jinming Pool Campaign quest and opens a new boss encounter.
