Yaoyao’s release has been anticipated for the longest time as she was teased way back when the game launched. Now that she’s finally out in Version 3.4 and people have tested and reviewed her, we can tell you what the majority opinion is and if she’s actually good. Spoiler alert: she’s very good and we’ll tell you soon as you keep reading.
First Impressions and Overall Thoughts
Yaoyao is a solid 4-star unit even at C0 and given Genshin Impact’s recent reputation with 4-stars, this is a refreshing and welcome surprise. She only has an ER problem but this could be solved with her weapons and artifact substats.
She fills the role of a Dendro healer which was desperately needed as not everyone wanted to build Kuki Shinobu or use Barbara and Kokomi for their Dendro teams. We already knew a Dendro healer was potentially in the works with a 5-star Baizhu but getting a 4-star healing Yaoyao is just as nice if not better.
She can not only be a reliable healer without a dedicated healing artifact set, but she also doubles up as a great Dendro reaction support with the Deepwood Memories set. Her artifact and weapon options are flexible too thus making her a F2P-friendly character.
Yaoyao’s Constellations Explained
Yaoyao is a complete character at C0 which is amazing. That said, she does have her own ER problems as she doesn’t get energy on her E skill cast. Rather she gains energy particles at regular intervals of her Yuegui’s Radishes hitting enemies. She can get back approximately 5 energy particles this way but she has to stay on-field for this which isn’t ideal.
Her C2 fixes this to an extent by letting her have some energy back from her burst duration. Her C1 gives all characters a general Dendro DMG bonus. Her C4 increases her personal reaction damage to an extent by giving her bonus EM based on her Max HP. Finally, her C6 allows her to throw a maximum of two Mega Radishes from each of her Yueguis during her burst. These Mega Radishes deal more DMG and heal more than the normal Radishes.
If you want Yaoyao’s constellations, her C2 is a good place to stop as it resolves some of her energy issues. Even though her C6 is also really good, it’s not worth C6-ing her just yet. As all 4-stars, she will be added to the Standard Banner soon anyway so you can just wait for her to come home in your random 10-pulls.
This Lantern Rite in Genshin Impact 3.4 will allow players to choose one Liyue 4-star character to add to their roster and many veteran players will likely choose Yaoyao due to already having a C6 of most other Liyue characters. Players now won’t be compelled to pull for Baizhu in the future for a Dendro healer if they don’t want to.
As she’s already on the banner in the first phase of the current patch, players who pull on it can get lucky and pull multiple copies of Yaoyao. Additionally, those who aren’t pulling on the current Alhaitham banner, can just wait for Lantern Rite to begin as it will also let you pick a free Liyue 4-star character for your party- including Yaoyao. This way everyone gets a Yaoyao and since she’s a good unit even at C0, she’ll definitely be a valuable addition to your Dendro teams.
