In Path of Exile 2, teleporting back to town is a quick and convenient way to heal, restock, and regroup during your adventure. Whether you are playing on a PC or controller, setting up and using a portal to town is simple. From customizing your keybinds on PC to navigating the controller settings, this guide will walk you through the steps to make the most of this useful feature and help you prepare for tough fights or challenging mobs.

How to Portal to Town on PC in Path of Exile 2

In Path of Exile 2, you can instantly teleport back to town by clicking the portal button in the lower-right corner of the screen, next to your first row of skills (the mouse skills). It’s easy to overlook, and the game doesn’t always highlight it, so just clicking the button will have your character cast the spell to summon the portal. Once the portal appears, simply click on it to travel. The best part is you can do this even during combat, like when you need to refill your flasks – just keep in mind that the casting time is brief.

To make things more complicated, there is no default key bind for the Town Portal spell. It can be a bit confusing at first, but the fix is simple. Just open the Options menu (the cog icon), go to the Input tab, and scroll to the bottom. You’ll find an option called “Create a Portal,” which is “Not Set” by default. All you need to do is choose a button that works for you.

First, hit the options key and then go to the skills. Open the skills menu and hit X (on Xbox controller) or square (on PS 5 controller). Now open the skill bind, go to the secondary skill set, click on an empty skill here and select the town portal. Now press the defined button to activate the Portal to Town.

You can use portals to prepare for tough battles by setting one up in advance. Also, if you are up against a challenging group of mobs, you can create some distance and open a portal to regroup. Just keep in mind that you can’t open a portal during a boss fight.
