How to Obtain Softwood Planks in Hytale 

Players in Hytale have access to softwood planks, which is one of the earliest resources in the game. They’re important for both the early stages and continuous development through the game. In this guide, we will guide players on how to find softwood and the biomes to search for it, including specific locations to find rare types of trees such as Banyan trees.

Finding the Softwood Biome

In Hytale, players have access to softwood, which is one of the easiest resources available at the start of the game. Once players locate the correct biome, they can easily identify the different types of trees within the biome and then easily gather softwood.

When searching for a biome that contains trees of two different colors, yellow and green, press the “M” key to navigate through your map and begin your search for these trees. The majority of biomes containing yellow and green trees are also situated next to orange and red ones. This will help focus your search.

Trees That Provide Softwood

As soon as you step foot in the biome, start your task to collect Aspen and Beech logs from the trees. Aspen is the most commonly found variety of softwood in this biome and has a lighter color than Beech which is slightly darker than Aspen’s color. Softwoods found in this biome are some of the easiest to acquire, which is what makes it one of the first biomes you can explore.

Important: Not all trees within the biome have softwood; for example, Birch trees cannot be used to collect softwood as they are classified as lightwood.

Other Softwood Types

The only place to find Banyan softwood is in Zone 4’s underground jungle. There, banyan softwood grows in total darkness under a lava-filled alien landscape. Massive trees draped with vines thrive among other rare resources like Adamantite deep underground.
