How quickly you gather these Data Points is key to how much you’ll ultimately progress in StarRupture. Data Points are your “Research Currency,” which allows players to unlock crafting recipes, advanced crafting stations, and gain critical upgrades necessary for long-term survival. By searching for Data Points and understanding the optimal times to farm them, you can reduce your overall grind and maintain a consistent progression in StarRupture.

Why Data Points Matter

The use of Data Points in StarRupture has now extended beyond just being a simple research tool due to their role in shaping the game’s progression system. Data Points help players build their Corporation faction levels, unlock new recipes from the corporation terminal, and provide access to building upgrades through the Recipe Station.

You can farm thousands of Data Points to achieve higher faction tiers but this is accomplished by submitting those Data Points instead of completing Material Commissions via Orbital Launcher Stations, allowing for more flexible progression.

Reliable Data Points Between Ruptures

Data Point farming continues beyond the Rupture’s active mode, when planets are in a stable state. The farming continues, but it changes pace during this period. Vermin are the hostile arachnid creatures found around the map.

When defeated, “Vermin Samples” will drop on the ground and can be taken back to your base to analyze. Submitting your samples at an Analysis Station will reward you with lots of Data Points. The analysing of Vermin samples can be done in conjunction with all other methods of collecting resources and exploring.

The Fastest Data Point Source

The Rupture, a planet-wide reset event, is the most profitable product of StarRupture but is also the most dangerous. The Rupture can totally and completely change an environment, eliminating everything unprepared. After the Rupture ends, there will be a short flood in the world with rare elements that cannot be found in normal circumstances. Some examples of those elements are Ignitium.

When a Rupture occurs, pieces of Ignitium fall randomly all over the landscape with other meteor debris. There will be orange light at the edges of the horizon and columns of smoke coming from the ground. These visual cues are your signal to move quickly.

Ignitium doesn’t last long. It breaks down rapidly and can only be collected during the short window following a Rupture. Every bundle of five Ignitium converts into 2,000 Data Points, making it one of the most efficient research sources in the game. Once gathered, return to your base and submit it through the Analysis Station to claim the Data Points.
