If you want to stare straight at the blazing sun, the Astronomy Badge in PEAK lets you do just that. It’s a quick and easy challenge, but you’ll need the right item, the right place, and the right time of day to make it work. This guide will help you get the badge in no time in PEAK.

How to look a little too closely at a blazing sun – Astronomy badge

The Astronomy Badge is all about taking a closer look at the blazing sun, but you’ll need the right gear and location to make it happen.

1. Get Your Binoculars

You’ll need binoculars for this badge. Luckily, they’re available right at the start of the game. Make sure to pick them up and keep them with you; don’t drop or lose them. You might not always find the binoculars in that spot, so keep an eye out for luggage scattered around the biomes; that’s often where you can get one.

2. Head to the Mesa Biome

Once you have your binoculars, make your way to the new Mesa biome (the desert area). The badge can only be earned during the daytime, so time your trip accordingly.

3. Unlock a Campfire

When you arrive in the Mesa biome, it’s a good idea to unlock a nearby campfire. This makes it easier to return if you need another attempt.

4. Find a Good Spot in the Desert

Head deeper into the desert areas where creatures like cabaras roam. From here, you’ll have a clear view of the sun. When you get to the Mesa, the sun will start burning your character and building up heat damage. Find some shade to stand in, equip your binoculars, and wait until the sun isn’t covered by clouds. Then, point your binoculars at the blazing sun to complete the task.

5. Look at the Sun with Binoculars

Now to complete the Astronomy Badge:

  • Equip your binoculars.
  • Aim directly at the sun.

If you’ve done everything correctly, the Astronomy Badge should pop up, and you’re done. The process is quick, but remember daytime is key, and you must have the binoculars in your possession the whole time. If the Astronomy Badge doesn’t pop up right away, try using the binoculars’ zoom feature and keep looking at the sun until it does.
