Indie sweetheart PEAK, which arrived on Steam on June 16, 2025, has taken co-op exploring to new levels—literally. As the players fight to climb the mysterious peak at the islet’s center, they’ll find more than hazardous terrain and stamina bars.
Perhaps the most terrifying dangers include the Scoutmaster, a disturbing, giant man in a straw hat who will appear under certain conditions. But how would you like to make him appear yourself?
That’s where the Scoutmaster’s Bugle comes in.
What Is the Scoutmaster’s Bugle in PEAK?

The Scoutmaster’s Bugle is a special item that calls the Scoutmaster monster—but only in single-player. Using it not only spawns one of the game’s most frightening encounters, but it also:
- Manually starts the Scoutmaster event
- Unlocks the “Mentorship Badge” achievement
- Rewards the rare “Inverted Eyes” cosmetic
Think of it as a high-risk, high-reward venture for single-player participants who’d wish to reveal all of PEAK’s concealed secrets.
How to Get the Scoutmaster’s Bugle in PEAK?
Getting the Bugle is not straightforward. It features a very low spawning chance and only in single-player. Here’s what you need to know:
- Play Solo: The Bugle will never spawn in multiplayer. In co-op, the Scoutmaster will spawn alone when a player gets ahead of the others.
- Search Rare Loot Containers: It’s normally located in Ancient luggage bags somewhere near landmarks or mid-climb alcoves, but there isn’t a specific location.
- Watch Out for High-Reward Areas: Try statue shrines, rest areas, or areas with higher ambient weirdness—that’s where more exotic gear like the Big Lollipop or the Bugle is more likely to drop.
Once you’ve found it, simply equip and use it to summon the Scoutmaster. Be ready for him—he comes quick, and he doesn’t play around.
What Do You Do After Using the Bugle?

Once awakened, the Scoutmaster will actively pursue you. He will teleport, block your way, or throw you over deadly drops. Allowing him to get his hands on and throw you is actually fun—doing so will give you:
- “Mentorship Badge” Achievement
- “Inverted Eyes” Cosmetic (character skin)
So, trophy hunting or creepy new look, it is not worth it.
Although the Bugle is only achievable by oneself, the Scoutmaster still appears in multiplayer if a player gets too far ahead of his or her team. It is a built-in mechanic for encouraging teamwork and keeping teams together.
Interestingly, in the event that he does spawn this way, it is actually possible for all players to receive the achievement and cosmetic—if someone lets him catch up to them.
