To get Gems on your character in Lost Ark, you will first need to reach item level 600 and beyond. This will unlock Tier 2 and Tier 3 content. In each Tier, you get different gems with varying strengths. Tier 2 Gems are generally weaker in comparison to Tier 3 Gems, but only a Tier 3 character can use a Tier 3 Gem and a Tier 2 Gem. A Tier 2 character is stuck with a Gem of the same tier level.
There are two types of Gems you can get your hands on that give you different abilities. The Circle Gem deals with ability cooldown and helps reduce it, while the Triangle Gem increases ability damage. Once you get your Gem, you just have to find it in your inventory and click on the equip button. Each gem also has its specific ability that helps boost your character’s stats. The higher the gem level, the more powerful it will be. The max a gem can go up to is level 10.
To level up a gem, you just have to merge the existing gems of the same level to get a higher level gem. You can merge gems in the upgrades section of the menu. Just place the same level gems in the three slots and hit upgrade. It doesn’t matter what type your gem is as long as they are all at the same level. But if using random gem types, the result will be at random too. If you don’t wish to manually select and upgrade each gem, you can select the Auto Fuse option on the upgrade screen.
If you are still hunting for gems, the best place where you can go and find them is by running through Chaos Dungeons. You can get plenty of rewards besides gems as well. You can also take part in Boss Rushes and Field Bosses, or find them at the Auction House. Participating in limited-time events can also get you a handful of gems every time.
