The world of Dragon Age: The Veilguard is full of items to collect, everything from valuables you can sell for gold and increase your faction standing, to weapons and armor for upgrades, cosmetics to try on, decorations to personalize the Lighthouse, and much more. While gold is the primary currency in Thedas, there are some merchants, like those in the Crossroads, who don’t accept gold as payment. Etheric Remnants serve as another form of currency in the game, and you’ll need them to purchase items from certain merchants and to fully upgrade your gear with the Caretaker at the Lighthouse. In this article, we’ll cover how to find Etheric Remnants and it’s uses in Dragon Age: The Veilguard.

How to Find Etheric Remnant in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Etheric Remnants are created wherever the Veil, the barrier between the Fade and the physical world, has been weakened, disrupted, or broken. In-game lore explains that remnants can only be gathered from creatures or places tied to the Fade. This includes areas where the Veil has been damaged, remnants left behind by demons or Fade-touched creatures, and of course, the Crossroads.

You can usually find Etheric Remnant at the Crossroads. While exploring the Crossroads and other Fade-connected areas, keep an eye out for small green crystals of Etheric Remnants sprouting from the ground. It appears in all areas of the location, sticking to the sides of walls like a green crystal. When you collect it, you’ll typically get between three and five units. Etheric Remnant can be found pretty much everywhere. It’s available in every location and can also be found in chests at any time.

Etheric Remnant Uses in Dragon Age: The Veilguard

As you progress in the game, you’ll unlock The Crossroads, a mystical dimension where all the Elven traveling mirrors, known as Eluvians, converge. Spirits will begin to gather there and set up shops offering rare materials, mementos, appearance items, and valuables for Rook to buy. However, most of these spirits will only accept Etheric Remnants as payment, so it’s a good idea to keep some on hand. Rook will also need Etheric Remnants to upgrade the party’s equipment with the Caretaker at the Lighthouse Workshop. Some upgrades, but not all, will require these remnants as a component. Additionally, you can use Etheric Remnants to buy special items from Xenon the Antiquarian, the mysterious merchant at the Black Emporium.
