One of the most iconic side quests in Path of Exile 2 is Forgotten Bounty, in which you must track down four Torn Map Pieces that are spread across several islands in Chapter 4. When assembled, the pieces form a treasure map leading you to Plunder’s Point, a treasure-filled island that borrows Expedition mechanics from the original game.

Unlike fixed quest markers, the exact locations of the map pieces vary slightly because of Path of Exile 2’s procedurally generated maps. Still, you’ll always find them at specific checkpoints within their respective areas.

How the Forgotten Bounty Quest Begins

You don’t initiate this quest like the normal way. Instead, collecting your initial Torn Map Piece automatically activates Forgotten Bounty in your quest journal. For the majority of players, this will automatically initiate while traveling through Kedge Bay, as the first fragment is well-nigh sure to be located there.

Torn Map Piece Locations

Each one is connected to a unique object or body you can interact with in a certain checkpoint. Here are where you can find each one on each island:

Kedge Bay – Dead Man’s Chest

The first is typically found here. Explore the area around the Smuggler’s Stash Checkpoint and interact with the Dead Man’s Chest to receive the piece.

Shrike Island – Corpse Nest

Your second fragment lies within the Corpse Nest Cave Checkpoint. Interact with the Corpse Nest itself to claim the map piece.

Whakapanu Island – Petrified Pirate

On this volcanic island, the checkpoint you’re after is called Petrified Pirate. Examine the remains to uncover your third map fragment.

Isle of Kin – Flayed Sailor

The final one is from the Flayed Sailor at the Flayed Sailor Checkpoint. This is traditionally considered the easiest to obtain.

As an added bonus, Isle of Kin has a book that provides +2 Passive Weapon Set Skill Points in the event you manage to complete its optional arena battle, so this trip is twice the cost.

Returning the Map to Makoru

Once you’ve collected all four Pieces of the Torn Map, return with Makoru on the ship at Kingsmarch. She’ll use the map pieces to show you the location of Plunder’s Point, the hidden treasure island.

Exploring Plunder’s Point

On Plunder’s Point, you’ll bury explosives to unearth treasure from the ground while fending off waves of enemies. The mechanic will be second nature to veteran players because it’s basically the same as the Kalguurian Expedition in Path of Exile 1.

Every site of digging triggers monsters with special buffs, so you must read carefully modifiers before chaining detonations. A greedy error can quickly overwhelm you, and dying here will cost you the treasure you excavated.

While you shouldn’t expect to find Ensured Unique items, Plunder’s Point is filled to the brim with loot chests. It’s a wonderful spot to pick up highly sought-after equipment, crafting currency, and valuable tradeables — making the Forgotten Bounty worth completing even if you’re deep into the campaign.
