Provided that you are in the Nord Mines and that you will want to fight the sleeping dragon, it is a big challenge. This will be your first major battle. Your friends will warn you when you enter the room where the Fire Dragon Mauna is, since this is going to be a tough fight. There are weaker monsters on either side of the room that may interfere if they catch eyes on you. Therefore, here is what you should know about the dragon’s weaknesses and attacks and how to prepare your team for victory and rewards after winning it.

What is The Dragon in Metaphor ReFantazio

Fire Dragon Mauna is among the bosses found in the game Metaphor: ReFantazio when one is on the Prologue Quest. It is an optional boss, meaning that the player has an option of fighting him, or ignore him without struggle and thus continuing with other quests in the game.

What are the Weakness and Attacks of The Dragon

Understanding its attacks and weakness about Mauna will make you better prepare your team and strategically plan your moves.

Weakness to cold: Throw Ice Chunks and cast Blizz spells to freeze it and inflict more damage. This will make the fight easier.

Scratch: Mauna swipes at a character with its claws and deals 50 damage.

Fireball: Mauna fires a fireball to one target, doing fire-based elemental damage.

Tail Swipe: Mauna swings its tail with a blow that hits all the characters in a row and knocks out 60 points of damage.

How to defeat The Dragon

You will have to prepare for a fight against Mauna. Just head to Nord Mines and get at least 20 Ice Chunks from Gallinago the Peddler. Those ice chunks will sting Mauna really hard. And prepare healing items beforehand, so you can keep your team afloat and deal consistent damage to the dragon.

By the time you get to the Fire Dragon Mauna, if you come to this place and don’t know how to get back through the Nord Mines, there’s a trick. You can fight the dragon to death. Then you’ll respawn to a previous spot in the Nord Mines so you can backtrack. Don’t worry. Dying here won’t have any negative effect on your actual game progress or character.

You have a small team with Strohl and Grius. You can use these characters to defeat the dragon. The best strategy depends on how much MP you have. Here’s a recommended setup for your characters and how to arrange them in battle.

What are the rewards after defeating Mauna

After beating the dragon, you can explore the area and collect three items. There’s also a chest you can open to find some valuable things.

  • Dragon’s Indignation (Greatsword for Warrior Archetype)
  • 1,000 Money
  • 1,000 MAG
  • Amethyst
  • Onyx
  • Glossy Fur
  • Grand Iron

After the battle, you can find a special item on the right side of the boss area. Follow the path forward and run across the bridge to exit the mine. Save your game before continuing your adventure.
