Wild Hearts is a game in the monster hunt genre that is set in feudal Japan. It will be released by Electronic Arts and is said to be the best contender for the Monster Hunter franchise of Capcom. Not only do you get to hunt down Kemono in an environment that is very scenic with the sakura blossoms, you get an array of weapons from bows to swords, to using Karakuri-buildings, traps and structures to modify and manipulate the field to your advantage.
And even with the wide diversity of kemono, there are some who you can pet or take down easily to get your loot, while there are some like the Gritdog that will test your limits. So, how do you go about beating Gritdog? This article will help you out.
How to Defeat Gritdog in Wild Hearts
Gritdog will be the first Earth based Kemono that you will fight. Don’t get fooled by the cute red panda-ish face. Like I previously mentioned, it will put up one hell of a fight. While it performs standard physical attacks like swiping its tail or charging at you, it possesses a special talent that sets itself different from the others. It is an embodiment of Magneto (yeah, from XMEN).
The Gritdog uses a magnetic field formed by the build-up of materials in its tail to manipulate ironsand for strong strikes. That black dust you see on the ground near is the ironsand, which it uses in a number of ways. Thus, you need to dodge the iron sand attacks properly.
Often it will charge towards you and try to slam you with it’s head. Try dodging that attack or you will take a good amount of damage.
The Vacuum Blast is the primary assault that needs to be avoided. Upon rising, Gritdog will start to drag in everyone and everything around it, including you. It will discharge all of it over a short period of time, severely damaging you if you get too close.
You can escape with your Spring Karakuri, but you must act quickly because the window of opportunity is quite small. Other than its tail, every other portion of Gritdog’s body has a three-star weakness to the Wind element, making it very vulnerable to it. To deal more harm, try to hit the head.
Things become insane in Gritdog’s rage mode. It also starts repeating its ironsand skills, including a powered-up Vacuum Blast that strikes harder than previously, in addition to being extremely hostile towards you. However, if you can successfully avoid the barrage of strikes, it will ultimately exhaust itself and need to “recharge” its ironsand. This is a fantastic chance for you to hurt it severely before it can strike back.
So, when I say this will test your skills, it will test all of them-your reaction time, you dodging successfully and timing your attacks.
You will have successfully hunted a Gritdog when you strike the last blow with your weapon after sufficient damage has been delivered. But yes, this will be one hell of a struggle, but the taste of victory will be worth it.
Final Tips:
To summarise, Gritdog, as previously mentioned, is the first Earth-type Kemono and it uses two main types of attacks-the magnetic attack in which it manipulates its battlefield’s ironsand and uses them for several attacks. And the Vaccum Blast, in which it will suck in all of its surroundings and then cast all of them out, with a huge value of damage. Things amp up by a huge margin when Gritdog switches to rage mode. That is when you need to dodge its barrage of attacks. It becomes a battle of attrition then. You wait for it to run out of energy and recharge and you deal as much damage as you can in the meantime.
Another tip, that you must remember, is the weakness to the Wind Element. As in most other games, use your spells on the head to cast the most amount of damage. And remember, it’s tail is not vulnerable to wind. The rest of it is.
