Sons of the Forest is a survival horror game that amps up surviving and horrors. Surviving means making traps, acquiring weapons, food and water. And it does so not only in case of the game and its atmosphere that includes dark tunnels, that will traumatize people with claustrophobia, monsters that will give you nightmares, hordes of hungry cannibals, sharks that will dig out that buried fear from the days of Subnautica and a lot more, but also with its quests. So how do you go about defeating or rather killing the cannibals in Sons of the Forest since they come in hordes and at first, they seem like annoying pests but slowly they get scary. With that being said, let’s look at how do you use your primal arsenal to defeat these ‘creatures’?
How to Defeat Cannibals in Sons of the Forest
Sons of the Forest has a ton of awesome survival weaponry, like a club, a spear, a bow, an axe, dynamite, and even firearms! The club, bow, or spear are the three primary made weaponry that players will use for the majority of the game. In Sons of the Forest, each character has a distinctive approach to dealing with cannibals. Overall, if players don’t have excellent protection, it is preferable to use ranged weapons to defeat cannibals. But there are some outliers.
Early on in the game, players will primarily have to contend with Dirty Cannibals, who observe the player from a distance, gather friends, and attack when the player remains in one place for an extended period of time. These foes are swift but frail. In Sons of the Forest, players can use a bow, one of the finest weapons to make first in the entire series, to surprise the cannibals from a distance and defeat them.
Sons of the Forest’s other cannibals are more dangerous and can knock players out with a few blows. Mutants are even worse because players should avoid them just by looking at them. With ranged weaponry, usually the bow, one can defeat both kinds of foes. To make their projectiles stronger and their bow more lethal, players should use one of the 3D printers located in tunnel networks throughout the island. When using arrows, players can ask their AI friend Kelvin to gather them after battle, just like he can do with sustenance in Sons of the Forest.
Sons of the Forest’s long weaponry, including the handgun, shotgun, and slingshot, are the most effective against cannibals. The gun is on an orange rowboat that is drifting by the western bay. To reach the lifeboat, players must swim while avoiding the dangerous sharks. On the southern end of the cove, there is a handgun upgrade that players can use to enhance their weapon. Meanwhile, the slingshot is on some dead bodies outside a grotto at the confluence of three waterways. It fires tiny pebbles as ammunition.
