To unlock the Study, you need to beat Nicholaus the Fallen. He is quite easy to beat and unlocks two powers as well.
Once you have defeated him, you can set up the Study. You need to unlock another unit that will actually craft the Amethyst Pendant and Misty Necklace. For that, you need to defeat another boss, Leandra the Shadow Priestess. Defeating her will unlock the Jewelcrafting Table as well as a bunch of recipes that are required to make the Amethyst Pendant and Misty Necklace.
