Writs are daily quests in Elder Scrolls Online that reset at 7:00 GMT. Players can take a Writ quest for each crafting skill line of their character and are rewarded with a treasure chest that contains experience, crafting inspiration, and materials–even gold materials–on their completion. There is also a chance to get a map to find special harvesting zones for extra benefits–these have twice as much crafting material and can feature legendary drops. Additionally, players can get Master Writs which are rarer and even more valuable.
It is recommended to complete their quests as they are high-profit returns considering the relatively low effort to finish them. Your character will be able to level up quickly with the experience and rewards gained. This guide will help you through the process of completing a Writ.
Complete Writ Quest in Elder Scrolls Online
The first thing would be to get your character certified to start crafting. Every town or city has a Writ Board which lets you pick a quest. You need to visit the certification trainer NPC depending on your alliance, and this will be mentioned in your Quest Journal. They will provide you with a simple training quest that prepares you for your Writ quests.
Once you have certification, you can go ahead and complete the Writ. there are different types of Writs which are described below.
Blacksmithing, Clothing, Woodworking Crafting Writ
You can pick up these Writs from the Equipment Crafting Writs Board, and you need to have the Blacksmith Certification, Clothier Certification or the Woodworker Certification.
This is a simple crafting quest where you have to craft items at the respective stations. Once you have gathered all the materials required for the crafting you can complete it. Your rewards on completion are the Blacksmith’s Coffer and Blacksmith Inspiration, Clothier’s Coffer and Clothier Inspiration or the Woodworker’s Coffer and Woodworking Inspiration.
Enchanting Writ
The Consumables Crafting Writs Board will contain these quests for you to select. You need to finish the prerequisite quest of Enchanter Certification to pick them up. After enchanting the item, you will be rewarded with the Enchanter’s Coffer and Enchanting Inspiration
Jewelry Crafting Writ
This is available at the Equipment Crafting Writs Board and you need to have the Jewelry Crafting Certification as a prerequisite quest. The items in the quests use three combinations of two necklaces, three rings or one necklace and one ring. The crafting material required depends on the rank of the character and their skill level. It also delineates the level of the reward received. The rewards are the Jewelry Crafter’s Coffer, Inspiration Jewelry Crafting Inspiration and High Levelled Gold.
Alchemy Crafting Writs
You can get these quests at the Consumables Crafting Writs Board. The prerequisite quest is the Alchemist Certification. For alchemy, you have to make the potions with the ingredients that you collect. One tip is to create the potions in advance as you collect the materials so that once you pick the Writ you can directly complete it. The Quest Journal will automatically detect the pre-crafted potions in your inventory. On completion, you will be rewarded with the Alchemist’s Coffer and Alchemy Inspiration.
Provisioning Crafting Writs
This is also given by the Consumables Crafting Writs Board and you need to have the Provisioner Certification. There are six possible combinations of provisions, and it is recommended to have them crafted as well, like the potions. Rewards contain the Provisioner’s Coffer and Provisioning Inspiration.
ADDON
A creator called Dolgubon has created the Lazy Writ Crafter for PC which lets you craft everything required for the quest automatically and saves you a lot of time. You can use this once the novelty of doing Writs manually has worn off, but until then, enjoy learning the crafting recipes and completing the Writs on your own.
