Dinkum is a fun farming and life simulator based in Australia. There are many types of trees in the game, some of which are more difficult to get. This guide will take you through the process of how to chop trees in Dinkum.
Dinkum: Tree Chopping Guide – Hardwood, Darkwood, Fir
You might want to get different types of wood for a particular request or recipe—whatever the reason may be, the process is the same. The type of wood is dictated by the type of tree that you’re chopping, which is in turn dictated by the type of biome you are currently in. All trees in Dinkum only grow in a specific biome, so you might have to do some exploring to get the right tree.

However, you might find that even if you come across a new type of tree, you will not be able to chop it right away. If you hack at it with your Basic Axe, it might not even make a dent. This is because you need a stronger axe. Some trees are built differently and need a more powerful tool to be chopped.
In order to get a better axe, you will first need to increase your Foraging Skill to Level 10. You can do this by collecting more items and exploring the map, unlocking more achievements along the way. Make sure you have enough Permit Points for the Level 2 Logging Licence which you can buy from Fletch.
You will receive the blueprint for the Copper Axe along with the Licence. If you’ve already found Copper Ore in your exploration, you don’t need to venture out, or you should get some. Smelt the Copper Ore in the Basic Furnace until you have 2 Copper Bars. Buy a Basic Axe from John, and that’s all you need to craft the Copper Axe at the Crafting Bench.
Now, you will be able to chop Darkwood and Fir Trees. You can also make Planks with the Sawing Mill from John’s shop.
