Not only do players in Grounded 2 have to depend on self-made equipment and gear, but also on ability and timing in order to survive on the treacherous landscape of the backyard. Amongst the advanced combat skills enumerated is the Dash Strike, a special action exclusive to dual-wield weapons. While the game hints at its effectiveness, it does not provide explicit guide on the proper manner of doing it.

This guide will explain what Dash Strike is, how to perform it, and when to use it for the best results.

Understanding Dash Strike

The Dash Strike is a charged melee attack that allows players to lunge forward and deal a powerful blow to enemies. This move is unique to dual-wield weapons, and when used correctly, it can significantly increase your effectiveness in combat, particularly against smaller or unsuspecting enemies.

What makes Dash Strike so effective is that it possesses a balance of forward momentum and high stun value. When thrown, it can interrupt enemies and even completely stun small creatures, giving players a useful window to perform follow-up attacks or flee.

How to Perform a Dash Strike

In order to use Dash Strike, you need to have a dual-wield weapon in hand first. There are dual-wield weapons that belong to their very own special category in the Workbench crafting menu, just above the category for ranged weapons.

One of the early-game skills that is not very difficult to craft is the Mitey Claws, and they require you to use Mite Fangs, Mite Fuzz, and Red Ant Parts. Equip them, then perform a Dash Strike by holding down your primary attack button. Wait for a couple of seconds, and look for an orange glow surrounding your character’s right hand. This will be your signal that the Dash Strike is charged.

Release the button to execute the attack. Your character will charge a fixed distance in a straight path and strike hard, applying a heavy stun effect to any enemies right in front of them. The attack can be held continuously for as long as you prefer once charged up so that you can prepare your attack before executing it.

Strategic Use and Limitations

Dash Strike is best utilized as an initial assault when attacking unprepared enemies or as a way to stun smaller enemies before they even have time to retaliate. It works particularly well on insects such as Worker Ants and Lawn Mites, who are easily killed or disabled with a well-executed dash.

But the attack has compromises. Once you start the animation, you’re locked into a straight line with no way to redirect. This leaves you exposed out in the open to counterattacks, especially from bigger bugs that can absorb the stun or survive the damage taken. If you miss your target or over-extend, the move is more of a liability than an asset.

It’s also important to note that while Dash Strike is more damaging than the standard charged attack, it’s not always the most desirable option in lengthy battles. In some battles, employing the faster, repetitive light attacks of dual-wield weapons is better than employing the slower, single dash.
