Gotham Knights: All About Joker

Gotham Knights does something unprecedented – it kills off Batman. Nightwing, Batgirl, Red Hood, and Robin investigate the death of the Dark Knight in this sequel to the popular Arkham series. It’s an open-world, action RPG set in the most dynamic and interactive Gotham City yet. You can patrol Gotham’s five distinct boroughs alone or with a friend, and drop in on criminal activity wherever you find it.

Batman is believed to be dead in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which shares a canon timeline with Gotham Knights. In Gotham Knights, he’s also dead, although some fans disagree because after all, he’s Batman, and yet WB Games Montreal insists he’s alive. At San Diego Comic-Con, Patrick Redding discussed Batman’s and Joker’s fate.

All About Joker in Gotham Knights

The question arises is does the Joker exist in Gotham Knights? In reality, the Joker isn’t in Gotham Knights, but his influence can be felt throughout the game. In contrast to Rocksteady’s Arkham series, the Joker is still alive in Gotham Knights. 

This is just one of several subtle references to the Joker scattered throughout Gotham Knights that are scattered about the city after he met Jason Todd, who died. Robin claims that the Joker has left Gotham after his fateful encounter with Todd. This is just one of several subtle references to the Joker throughout the game.

Even though the Joker himself is not present, Gotham Knights feature many of Batman’s most well-known friends and foes. For example, Harley Quinn makes an appearance early on in the story. The player sees her in a pseudo-rehabilitation facility, where she’s been imprisoned. 

However, she’s managed to make the place suit her own needs and even managed to get a job doing intelligence work of some sort. There are even nods toward her working for a secret government unit called the Suicide Squad. Even though the Squad is never mentioned by name, it’s still clear that they play a role in the game.
