Genshin Impact 2.8 just released Heizou as a new 4-star Anemo catalyst DPS from Inazuma and it was about time we made a tier list of 4-star DPS characters in the game. Genshin Impact has an amazing 4-star cast and while many of them are S-tier supports, a majority of them are also great DPS units. Even though they don’t stand a chance against 5-star DPS units, we thought we’d give them some love in their own tier list.
4-Star DPS Units in Genshin Impact
A majority of the 4-star DPS characters double as great support when you finally get 5-star DPS characters. This way your resources aren’t wasted and you can invest in them without feeling guilty. 4-star characters are versatile and that’s what makes them relevant even in the late game. Some of them even compete against 5-star units at C6. 4-star DPS characters are also enough for your overworld exploration so it’s always wise to have a few of them built into your roster.
S-Tier
In S-tier, we always have characters dedicated to their job. These following characters are dedicated damage dealers and don’t function as support. At C6, all of these characters are powerful enough to compete with 5-star DPS characters.
- Razor
- Ningguang
- Yanfei
- Heizou
Razor is the best 4-star physical DPS and since he’s electro, he also synergizes well with Cryo units for Superconduct- thus further increasing his damage. Ningguang, Yanfei, and Heizou, on the other hand, are all surprisingly catalyst DPS so they deal pure elemental damage. Of these, Ningguang is the best for single-target DPS even though her Geo doesn’t enable reactions. Heizou is the strongest but he’s more of a melee unit than a ranged DPS. Yangfei is overall the most reliable.
A-Tier
In A-tier, we usually have units that do more than the role they are being ranked for. The following characters all double up as excellent supports once you get 5-star DPS units to replace them.
- Kaeya
- Rosaria
- Xiangling
- Beidou
These characters also can be used as a sub-DPS or a burst DPS when your main DPS is on cooldown. All of these characters can also be built to deal either Physical damage or Elemental damage to their respective elements so this makes them very versatile.
B-Tier
In B-tier we have characters who can be reliably used for the role they are being ranked for but they’ll eventually need to be replaced for better units. All of these characters are better used as supports than as DPS but they are decent DPS units in their own right.
- Fischl
- Sayu
- Noelle
- Chongyun
Of these, Fischl can be built as either a Physical ranged DPS or as an electro DPS depending on your needs. Sayu, Noelle, and Chongyun best deal elemental damage and are thus best used as such. Noelle and Chongyun get their damage from their burst while Sayu’s main source of damage is balanced between her skill and burst.
C-Tier
In C-Tier we usually have units that are best replaced as soon as possible.
- Xinyan
While Xinyan can be technically used as a DPS, this also renders half of her kit useless. Xinyan tries to balance both shielding and physical damage and in the end, she fails at both roles.
Chances are if you already have units from A Tier and above, you’re still using them in the late game because that’s how relevant and versatile they are. These units don’t need replacement as such and you can comfortably not build any more DPS characters but half the fun of Genshin is in trying out new characters and so we understand why you need that 5-star Hu Tao.
