Steam Stetting gives you access to a multitude of options related to your account, downloads, Steam cloud, controller settings, and much more. But what if the “Settings” is not visible in your Steam client. It can be a stressful situation when that happens and no it’s not a bug with your client that you can fix by reinstalling. There is a very specific reason why the Steam Settings is missing. If you have encountered this issue, here is how you can fix it.
How to Fix Steam Settings Missing or Not Visible
The only situation when the Steam Settings can go missing from the client is when the Family View is turned on. It’s a parental control that requires a passcode. And due to this, you are unable to access the Steam Settings by clicking on Steam in the top right corner of the application.
To fix the Steam Settings missing issue, you need to turn off the Family View option from your profile. Here are the steps you can follow.
- Go to the Steam Store
- Log in with your credentials
- Click on your name in the top-right corner and choose Account details
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click Manage Family View under Family Settings
- If you have a Pin, enter it to access the Family View Settings and disable it
- If not, then click “I forgot my PIN”
- Steam will send an email to your mail ID associated with the account. Clicking on the link in the mail will disable the Family View.
Once the Family View is disabled, close the Steam client completely and restart, the Settings will be there in its place.
This does not work. I have family view disabled and still CANNOT find settings anywhere. All games automatically download to C: drive, which is full, so downloads to not happen, even after I have paid for them
