God of War Ragnarok has been released and dedicated players are only recently completing their playthrough of the main story quest. Some of the features are noticeable improvements that Santa Monica Studio deserves rightful praise for. God of War Ragnarok improves upon God of War 2018’s equipment and resource management and this allows players more flexibility and even encourages exploration while also making things easier for casual players. Equipment and Resource Upgrades in God of War Ragnarok
God of War 2018 had a rarity system in which equipment and weapons of lower rarity couldn’t hope to compete with the higher rarity items. These pieces of equipment would also be scattered mechanically throughout the map in ways that most players would get access to most of them as long as they did their main story quest.
God of War Ragnarok introduces some nifty improvements to the equipment and resource management system and some of them are as follows.
- Level Up Any Equipment to Legendary: All equipment and items with a Power Level can now be levelled up to 9- which is the highest rank.
- Transmog Benefits: After reaching Level 9 with a piece of equipment, players will have the option to change its appearance or looks based on anything in their inventory- provided of course they match the equipment type.
- Explore More for Powerful Gears: Some of the best gears are hidden in optional regions so players are encouraged to explore if they want to stay ahead of the curve.
- Casual Players can Auto-Equip Gears based on Stat Priority: After choosing the desired stat, the game will automatically equip the highest-level gear in your inventory with that desired stat. This saves you from the trouble of deep-diving into the game’s combat and stat system to min-max your build while also giving you a reliable build for your playstyle automatically.
- Armor Set System: Many of your Wrist and Waist Armor pieces now come in sets and equipping two of the same set will give you bonus powers and abilities. You can also mix and match different set pieces for a flexible playstyle.
- Older Resources are Here to Stay: Just because all your previously built equipment will start looking for alternative resources to level up to 9 doesn’t mean that older resources won’t be available anymore. You can buy older resources from any shop as they will be categorised under the SPECIAL ITEMS tab under the RESOURCES section.
In God of War Ragnarok, the devs encourage players to play around with their gear and explore more to stay ahead in the game. Even the true ending of the game is hidden behind a side quest at the end of the game and players will have to go on these side quests to thus keep up.
