One of the most coveted resources in Destiny 2: The Edge of Fate is the Fated Cipher. Meant to eliminate the randomness of acquiring gear, Fated Ciphers are a must for players seeking to optimize their grind for Kepler-specific gear and weapons. Although Fated Ciphers drop in small numbers, knowing where and how to acquire them on a regular basis will greatly optimize your grind.
How to Farm Fated Ciphers

There are a number of methods to farm Fated Ciphers in Edge of Fate, but most yield only small quantities. The best thing to do is approach things with a combination of activities and design your farming route around which events or missions are currently happening on Kepler.
One of the simplest methods to begin collecting Fated Ciphers is by finishing public events on Kepler, including the Vex energy pillar public event near the Caldera Landing Zone. At Legendary difficulty, these events reward 2 Fated Ciphers per successful completion. Although the rewards are not great, they do add up quite quickly, especially combined with other farming efforts.
Time Latch Missions – The Most Reliable Source

If you are serious about farming Fated Ciphers, your best option would be running Time Latch Missions. These are quick, repeatable missions that only take a few minutes to complete each, although the duration will actually depend on your objective.
Each Time Latch Mission provides Fated Ciphers along with loot from the Kepler destination pool. They are designed to be efficient and rewarding, making them one of the fastest and most consistent sources of ciphers. Just note that quest terminal missions from Kepler’s hubs typically reward only Fated Ciphers, not gear—so prioritize Time Latch if you’re also chasing loot.
The Sieve – High-Risk, High-Reward Farming

After you’ve finished playing the Edge of Fate campaign, you’ll gain access to The Sieve, a seasonal post-campaign activity located on the left side of the Caldera map. The event is available on occasion, so make sure to keep an eye on your map to see when it’s available.
The Sieve acts as a horde mode: players help Drifter gather Dark Matter while fending off waves of enemy mobs. Once the mining process is done, a boss will spawn. Defeating it will break the loop and give players Kepler loot and three Fated Ciphers. The activity can be looped as soon as possible, making it a perfect loop for long farming sessions. Higher difficulties might give more cipher payouts, so it’s best to enter with a powerful build and fireteam.
