The Edge of Fate brings Destiny 2 a complete rehaul of the Power Level system. This is a new age for Guardians, allowing for fresh gear progression, fresh leveling goals, and a more balanced sandbox—all in the wake of The Final Shape.

Whether you’re a veteran or a new Light, it is essential to find out how Power Levels work in this expansion so that you may get stronger and access end-game content. All that you need to know about the new Power Cap system is explained here.

What Is the Power Cap in The Edge of Fate?

The Edge of Fate simplifies the Power system without giving up meaningful progression. Below are the new breakpoints:

Base Power – 10

All Guardians start at this base point for the expansion.

Soft Power Cap – 200

You can achieve this level by getting Rare and Legendary equipment from normal activities. Most of the drops will automatically bring you up to this cap.

Power Cap – 400

The next big milestone beyond 200. Getting to 400 involves equipment from tougher content, like Portal Activities, which are scaled with your Power Level and provide more rewards.

Hard Power Cap – 450

The current maximum Power Level. This level is achieved by collecting Prime Engrams from high-level Portal Activities. This is the true endgame objective for the Season.

How Seasonal Bonus Power Operates

Once you hit the Soft Cap, additional Power comes from activities that award Seasonal Bonus Power. These bonuses are tied to more challenging activities and more competitive endgame content. Observe:

  • Seasonal Bonus Power allows for progress beyond the 200 Soft Cap.
  • Both bonuses reset at the start of each Season so that all players start the next Season at Power 200.

What This Means for You

The Power system of Edge of Fate keeps every player at a level playing field while punishing players who take on difficult content. It adds a sense of renewal to every Season and places an enforced progression track:

  • Reach level 200 naturally from casual play.
  • Drive towards 400 with Portal Activities and high-tier contents.
  • Cap out at 450 by completing top-tier challenges and collecting Prime Engrams.

Regardless of what prepares you for raids or Exotic quests or pushes your ranking in season leaderboards, knowing these Power caps will help you optimize your grind.
