With The Final Shape, Destiny 2 is adding a strong new narrative experience to the mission “The Edge of Fate,” occurring over a few weeks’ worth of weekly goals of the Pale Heart. As part of Week 1 content, Guardians will be requested to locate 18 secret Data Pads within two distinct types of missions: Solo Ops, and Fireteam Ops.
These Data Pads are not simply trinkets — they contain fragments of lost lore, concealed history, and lore that expand the Traveler’s mystery and its tormented interior. Some have direct effects on victory progression, but some are required to keep progressing the current Echoes story or subclass-exotic missions.
Solo Ops Data Pad Locations
There are three areas that must be discovered in order to complete the Solo Ops Data Pad Search Part One activity:
- Skywatch (Cosmodrome)
- The Salt Mines (EDZ)
- Caldera (Kepler)
More of these scavenger hunt-like tasks will be coming in the coming weeks, taking players to other locations on the playlist.
The data pads spawn on even the lowest difficulties, in our testing, so don’t bother buffing up your enemies so you can complete this season objective. These are where you can find each of them.
Skywatch Solo Ops Data Pad location
The data pad in Skywatch is hard to miss. Progress through the mission until your screen shows you’re entering Skywatch, then just to your left to find this data pad on top of a barrel.
The Salt Mines Solo Ops Data Pad location
The data pad in the Salt Mines appears in one of the last areas in this Solo Op, after you’ve cleared two Taken Anchors. As you’re on your way to the third and final Taken Anchor, you’ll encounter a drop in one of the EDZ’s rocky areas. The data pad is on top of a rusted crate, almost in front of you.
Kepler Solo Ops data pad location
The data pad on the Kepler Solo Ops mission was after we blew up the Fallen depots as part of the main mission. That brought us into a cave with some derelict buildings. The data pad is to your right when you go in the area and see the terrain change, directly across from a building that has been destroyed.
Fireteam Ops Data Pad Locations
There will be a few weeks of Data Pads to find in season 27 of Destiny 2. Throughout this article, this locations guide will keep their locations updated whenever they are included in the game.
The Glassway Data Pad locations
Along the “Prevent the Vex From Swarming Europa” mission, the first Data Pad is to the right off where you fight the initial miniboss of the Strike, a large Fallen by the name of Warrior’s Enforcer. Its location is indicated below.
The second Data Pad is in the large open chamber shortly after fighting the second miniboss, another large Fallen named Technocrat’s Assistant. It’s on the extreme right of the chamber at the end of a platform that juts out from the rest, as indicated by the image below.
Inverted Spire Data Pad locations
The first Data Pad is on this platform below you before dropping down into the section of the Strike where you climb into tanks.
The second Data Pad is after the section where you have to stand on three plates and head up towards the drill. You should be able to spot it on the left-hand side of the room before leaping up.
Battleground: Conduit Data Pad locations
Leap down the ramp and slide into this room at the beginning of the activity where the Data Pad will be on the left-hand side before falling into the hole.
After the hacking and defending of the conflux and just before entering the area with the final boss, this Data Pad will be on the right-hand side of the path.
Battleground: Delve Data Pad locations
The first Data Pad is on spawn. Make a quick fall and run briefly near the Radiolarian river and it can be seen to your left, at the base of a little pillar.
The second Data Pad is on the path to the final boss room, on a ledge to the left of the ramp onto the encounter platform.
