The Morphology quest is a mid-campaign mission within The Edge of Fate expansion, focused on hunting down the elusive Felciks, Fiendling of the Archon Prime, and learning how to control the use of Mattermorph, a strange new energy. The mission is not very long, but it does require intelligent use of Matterspark mechanics and some environmental situational awareness.

Track Felciks Through the Subway

Like some of the previous missions, Morphology starts out in a familiar setting: a dark subway. Navigate through the train and locate the lever to the door out. Once on the outside, the pursuit of Felciks is on.

You’ll enter a large fight arena where the boss appears but is shrouded. Look around for the Matterspark terminal and turn it on to begin playing around with energy. Switch into your Matterspark form and overload the generator beside it, making it shoot out Arc Charges—glowing balls you can throw.

Throw the Arc Charges at Felciks to stun its shield. While stunned, attack it with maximum damage. When Felciks backs away, it’ll drop Mattermorph motes, which you should pick up before moving on.

Repetition of the Process in the Next Arena

As you move forward, Felciks will fall back to the next area. Follow it and repeat the same thing as before: turn on Matterspark, power up the generator, and throw Arc Charges to disable its shield again. If you don’t have any Arc Charges left, simply zap the generator again to produce some more.

The area is populated with Fallen hostiles, so try to command the battlefield as you pick up the motes dropped by the boss. After pushing Felciks back further, you’ll see a room sealed off with lasers and a relay lock.

Use the Relocator to Move Forward

Find the Relocator device in this room and fire it at the indicated relay within the chamber. This will unlock the way through the room filled with lasers downstairs. Walk with care through the dangers and proceed to the last zone for a more challenging fight.

Prepare for the Final Fight

This last area is marked by Darkness—respawning is restricted. Plant a Rally Banner at the marked spot and gear up. At the far end of the room, you’ll find another generator perched on an upper platform. Use Matterspark to reach it and start charging again.

As earlier, initiate Arc Charges on Felciks to strip its shield. The boss will start calling in waves of Fallen as it takes damage, lengthening the fight with each health tier. Once you deplete its health to its final segment, it will once more flee, and this concludes the last part of the mission.

Chase down Felciks and Claim Mattermorph

Trace the glowing path of Mattermorph motes in a laser-filled tunnel until you come out at the mission’s beginning point. In the middle, pick up the final mote, then hop to the big central pylon.

There, you will find a glowing pustule—a focal point of the Mattermorph process. Grasp it, then find the green glowing growths in the room. Melee them to open up a path, then climb up and fall through a vent into a final chamber.

In this tiny, walled room, Felciks holds its own. Without the remaining phases or tricks, kill the Fiendling for good. Defeated, several chests will fall—each containing useful loot, including equipment to pursue the Mattermorph upgrade course.
