Early in Cronos: The New Dawn, players will notice several chained-up doors blocking access to valuable resources and hidden areas. To get through them, you’ll need the Bolt Cutters—but they aren’t immediately available. Instead, you’ll first have to track down the key to the locked Jedrus Tool Store.
Here’s where to find both the store key and the Bolt Cutters to open up new areas within the game.
Finding the Jedrus Tool Store Key
Jedrus Tool Store is visible early in the game, but the door is shut. A note on the side indicates that the key is inside Block 34, Apartment 29.
- From the store, head right through the double doors into the street, where you’ll see the 34-marked building.
- Go inside the building. To your right is a safe room—use this opportunity to save progress and organize supplies.
- Head upstairs, but watch out for the green pulsating sacks. Attack them from a distance, as they’ll explode and emit acid if you’re nearby.
- Next, burn the vines in your path using either the barrel or the Flamethrower.
- On the second floor, fight the two Time Oddities before going any further up.
- On the third floor, there are additional walls of vines. Burn through both of them to reach Apartment 29 at the end of the hall.
Clear out the enemies inside before moving forward. Once safe, step onto the balcony and slip through the outer wall into the next room. On the table behind the wall, you’ll finally find the Jedrus Tool Store Key.
Retrieving the Bolt Cutters
Return to the tool store and unlock the main door with your new key. Inside, you’ll quickly notice that the back room—where the Bolt Cutters are kept—is still locked.
Look around the shelves to see that there is an opening into the room. There is a wall of vines over the door; shoot the nearby canister to burn them off.
Be cautious when attempting to open the door to the rear room: a large enemy will burst out as you’re doing so. A few charged-up shotgun shots should take care of it. Once you’ve killed it, head inside and grab the Bolt Cutters.
With them in hand, you’ll now be able to cut through chained doors across the game, opening shortcuts, hidden areas, and additional resources.
