Indiana Jones and the Great Circle offers plenty of puzzles to solve as you explore its various regions. In addition to those tied to the main story quest, you will also encounter several while completing side quests. When you reach the Himalayas in the ‘A Harsh Climb’ main story quest, you will face a series of quick puzzles within the captain’s cabin.
One of these puzzles requires you to decipher the Captain’s Code to progress further in the quest, and this guide will help you do just that. Let’s dive into solving the Captain’s Cipher puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
Location of the Captain’s Cipher Puzzle in Indiana Jones & The Great Circle
As you continue exploring the upper deck of the Captain’s Cabin, you will eventually reach the puzzle room as part of the main story quest. Inside, you will find a room with several deceased Nazis on the table and a locked door. To proceed further, you will need to solve the door code to unlock the path ahead of you.
How to Solve the Captain’s Cipher Puzzle in Indiana Jones & The Great Circle
On the table, there is a note which contains the Captain’s Code, with the key letters being “JÖGM.” These four letters are the ones that need to be entered into the translator box.
Move past the table to find the cipher box at the end of the room on the left side. To use the box, you will need to place four cipher wheels in a specific order from left to right:
- The wheel on the floor near the cipher should be placed in the first slot (letters: R, C, D, O, A, J, B, S).
- The top wheel on the shelf next to the cipher belongs in the second slot (letters: L, U, F, H, E, K, T, Ö).
- The wheel on the shelf beside the note should go in the third slot (letters: O, A, H, I, G, U, V, Z).
- The wheel on the floor next to the cipher needs to be placed in the fourth slot (letters: B, P, W, Y, M, T, N, X).
Once the letters are placed into the cipher, interact with the lid of the box and use the left stick to input “JÖGM.” After this, players can examine the letters beneath “JÖGM” to reveal the keyword that will translate the code, which is “BLUT.”
Once you have found “BLUT,” go to the Code Table on the table with the dead Nazis. In the left column, locate the 12th row, where you’ll find the word “BLUT” along with the corresponding four numbers: 3666.
Enter the code 3-6-6-6 on the panel by the door. This corresponds to “B-L-U-T” and will unlock the door.
The Captain’s Code is Difficult
The code for the Captain’s Cipher can be hard to decipher but it is easy to determine once the players understand how to translate and decrypt using the Kummetz Cipher. Although there is no reward for solving this puzzle, it is crucial for progressing in the story, as it plays a key role in Indy’s adventure.
That concludes our guide on how to solve the Code Table and Captain’s Code puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.
