Most would probably find the fight against the Great Sage’s Broken Shell to be too lengthy and boring. However, in Black Myth: Wukong, there’s a particularly tough opponent right from the start: Erlang Shen.

Erlang Shen is cleverly hiding on Mount Mei, which you can visit throughout most of the game. To spot him and defeat him is a challenge. Rather than spending countless hours fighting for hours, check out this guide to beat him easily.

How to Find Erlang Shen

To find Erlang Shen, You will have to do secret parts of each chapter except for 3 and 6. Next, complete the Treasure Hunter’s Quest in Chapter 3 then kill the last boss, followed by going to the Great Pagoda.

To find the Great Pagoda Keeper’s Shrine, go to the bridge near the Snow-Veiled Trail Keeper’s Shrine. Turn left and keep walking until you see a bridge. Cross it and turn left again. You’ll see a wall. Go through the wall to reach the shrine. Walk up the stairs, and a short movie will play. After that, you’ll be on Mount Mei, ready to fight Erlang Shen.

How to Defeat Erlang Shen

When you fight Erlang Shen, you’ll see a second bar above his health bar. This bar shows his stance. As long as this bar is active, it’s hard to hurt him. You need to break this bar before you can really damage him.

When Erlang Shen’s health gets down to about 70%, he’ll regain his stance bar, and his attacks will get more powerful and varied. He’ll start using a giant ax along with his other weapons. Once his health reaches 50%, he’ll regain his stance bar again and start using strong lightning attacks, which look reddish.

Erlang Shen’s attacks are powered by lightning, so if they hit you, you might get shocked. Being shocked makes you take more damage. To avoid this, use Shock-Quelling Powder. Erlang Shen can also shoot lightning beams that can shock you easily. He’ll also throw swords at you, so be careful.

To beat Erlang Shen, dodge his first attack combo and then stun him. Hit him while he’s stunned, and use Wandering Wight’s spirit to make it easier to stagger him. Keep hitting him until his stagger bar is empty. In the second part of the fight, keep dodging his attacks and hit him when you can. At 50% health, he’ll make a clone, and they’ll shoot beams. Dodge all of the beams.

Once the clone is gone, use the Plantain Fan to trap Erlang Shen in a whirlwind. Hit him while he’s trapped to break his stance bar. Keep attacking until his health is around 30%. To finish the fight, use Rock Solid to block his attacks and hit him back.

Defeating Four Heavenly Kings

After you defeat Erlang Shen, he’ll call for help from the Four Heavenly Kings. These Kings are from the four directions of the compass: North, East, West, and South. They will attack you at the same time, but their attacks aren’t that hard. Try changing your armor to something stronger.

To make the fight less harder, each of the Four Heavenly Kings uses attacks that you’ve seen before. The best way to fight them is to focus on one King at a time, dodging the others’ attacks. Use light attacks to build up your focus meter, then be ready with a powerful heavy attack that can beat one King at a time.

Even though there are four of them, the Four Heavenly Kings aren’t too hard to beat. Just make sure to stay away from the Kings you’re not fighting, and take them down one by one. After defeating all four, you’ll have to fight Erlang Shen again.

Defeating Erlang for the Last Time

After defeating the Four Heavenly Kings, you’ll change into the Stone Monkey, and Erlang Shen will turn into a giant lion. You’ll fight him again, but this time you’ll be even stronger because you’re the Stone Monkey.

Erlang Shen will be stronger and attack more often in his new form, but you can heal yourself using your heavy attacks. If your staff isn’t helping, try using a different one. This fight isn’t scripted, so you can die. If you do, try changing your equipment before you try again.

Erlang Shen will use a flaming sword, so be careful. But you’ll be stronger as the Stone Monkey, so this fight should be fun. There’s no special reward for winning, but beating Erlang Shen will unlock the secret ending of Black Myth: Wukong.
