How Garum Production Works

Garum is one of the earliest Plebeian goods you’ll need to supply, and it takes a small network of specialised buildings to make it. You’ll be gathering Salt and Mackerel, then processing both ingredients into Garum at the Garum Works.

Building an Efficient Production Chain

While you can place one of each building and call it a day, the different production speeds will cause bottlenecks. To maintain 100 per cent productivity, it’s better to match your buildings to their processing times.

• One Salt Pond produces twice as fast as a Scomber’s Shack.
• One Garum Works requires a single Salt and a single Mackerel, but it will take 90 seconds to process them.
• Every step should feed the next, at the right rate to avoid idle time in the chain.

To obtain an ideally balanced arrangement:

• 3 Garum Works
