The Vaults of Prohibited Knowledge are the most valuable finds in Hell Is Us. Scattered throughout Hadea, each vault holds valuable loot and histories of the country’s broken past. To unlock them, you will have to enter combinations of Emotion symbols that represent human emotions. Instead of leaving you to figure out each clue on your own, below is a full guide to where each vault is located and how to access it.
Learning Emotion Symbols

It’s essential to get to know the symbols on the doors of their vaults before heading into them. Rage is symbolized by a vertical line with tiny slashes going across it, Terror by an empty rectangle with a snake-like line within it, Grief by a curved stroke with dripping teardrops, and Ecstasy by a circle with a star-shaped figure at the top.
Loathing is represented as a U-shape with slanted lines stabbing downward, Vigilance is an eye with a slash across it, Admiration is the shape of the number eight, and Amazement is an open eye. These are the symbols comprising the keys to all vault combinations.
Vault of the Copse – Senedra Forest

The first vault you will find is in the Senedra Forest. It is hidden on a hillside beside an OMSIF camp, just off where the Caddell Treasure Hunt occurs. At first glance, the camp is a normal camp, but behind the tents and in the trees you can see a hidden cave which contains the vault door. To open it, set the symbols in this order: Terror, Admiration, Rage, Amazement.
Vault of the Knoll – Vyssa Hills

Another vault is concealed in Vyssa Hills, behind a waterfall that appears early in the region. The tricky part is reaching it; you’ll need to approach from above and carefully descend into the cavern behind the cascade. Once inside, the code to open the door is Admiration, Amazement, Ecstasy, Rage.
Vault of the Mere – Lake Cynon

Lake Cynon conceals its vault along a trail that barely resembles a trail at all. From the vantage point where a vehicle is parked, descend and make your way back around on the rim of the water until you come to a thin track skirting the shoreline. The cave with the vault is at the termination of this trail. The proper order here is Vigilance, Grief, Loathing, Ecstasy.
Vault of the Prairie – Jeljin

The Jeljin vault is often misunderstood, since its clue suggests it lies beneath the chapel. In truth, the entrance is at a nearby digsite fenced off from the town. Enter the tunnels here and you’ll quickly come across the vault door. The sequence to unlock it is Grief, Loathing, Ecstasy, Terror.
Vault of the Beck – Marastan

Well away from Marastan’s city walls, the Beck vault lies in the remains of the Raveta manor. A little wooden bridge at the rear of the remains leads up to the entrance of a cave, where the vault lies in wait. Open it using the combination Amazement, Vigilance, Admiration, Loathing.
Vault of the Mire – Acasa Marshes

The last vault takes a bit more work. To start, you’ll need to get inside the OMSIF Observation Outpost in the northeast section of the marshes. The gate here can be opened with the numeric code 151991. Get inside, then navigate around to the rear where a cave takes you further into the ruins. There, you’ll find the final vault door, which can be opened by pressing the sequence Rage, Ecstasy, Terror, Grief.
