Genshin Impact Version 3.1 added two new world bosses to the game in the bustling region of Sumeru. Both of these are mechanical bosses with one having its roots in Khaenriah and the other having its roots in King Deshret’s kingdom. In this article, we will tell players how to find the Aeonblight Drake boss and give tips on beating it with minimum effort.
Aeonblight Drake in Genshin Impact 3.1
The Aeonblight Drake world boss is located near Devantaka Mountain. You cannot reach it from the top as it is located underground so you’ll need to teleport to the northern waypoint in the region as given in the map below.
After teleporting to the above waypoint, face behind you to find an underground cave opening. You’ll need to go through this opening and go right from here.
As you enter the cave and turn right you should be able to see the second cave opening in the distance. Follow the stoned path until you reach this second cave opening.
Go through these again and keep going in deeper until you reach the Aeonblight Drake’s clearing
Beating the Aeonblight Drake: Tips
The Aeonblight Drake world boss is based on the Ruin Drake elites so it thus has similar attack patterns. In the overworld, there are two types of Ruin Drakes- one that stays grounded and one that flies. This world boss can do both so you’ll have to be wary of its aerial form and projectile attacks.
This boss, just like Ruin Drakes, absorbs elemental particles to gain an elemental form in which it uses elemental attacks. While you can use Physical DMG against it we do not recommend it as it has a high Physical DMG Resistance. Since Physical DMG also requires the boss to be in melee, it also doesn’t help when the boss goes aerial.
The best characters to use against this boss are catalyst DPS users like Yae Miko, Yanfei or even Ningguang. We do not recommend Heizou or Klee against this boss as they both have short melee ranges. Elemental reactions are the best way to deal with this boss and the recent Dendro reactions come in handy in that regard.
You’ll also preferably want a reliable shielder to prevent getting interrupted in your attack chains and combos. In its melee ground form, watch out for its tail attack where the boss just spins to attack and trip opponents in a small AoE. In its aerial form, its homing missiles and small AoE bombs are something to look out for.
Both Nilou and the upcoming character Layla in Version 3.2 use this boss’s drops for character ascension so if you’re planning to pull for these characters you’ll need to farm this boss repeatedly until you have enough. Overall this boss fight is still easier than Genshin Impact’s other recent mechanical world bosses like the Ruin Serpent or the other new world boss released alongside the Aeonblight Drake in Update 3.1 so players have nothing to worry about with this one.
