To get seeds in Dwarf Fortress, you will need to harvest them. They are planted in specific seasons, which are a big part of the game. They have seasons with three months, with some special names. For spring, it is Granite, Slate, and Felsite, while Summer includes Hematite, Malachite, and Galena. Autumn is represented Limestone, Sandstone, and Timber and last but not least Winter has Moonstone, Opal, and Obsidian.
If you harvest seeds from wild plants, you will need Bags. These are used to store the seeds so that you don’t lose them. You will be able to buy these Bags at Clothier’s Shop. If you are having trouble finding it, you will need to enter the Build menu under Workshop clothing and Leather.
