In The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered, you have access to the transmog system, where you can change the appearance of your equipment while keeping the stats intact. In cases where you wish to wear the best armour but like to look like something else, this feature becomes quite helpful. To activate it, you need to complete a quest and reforge your gear using Yana. In this guide, we will explain how to unlock and use the transmog feature.
How to Unlock Armour Transmog

The remastered version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt allows you to alter the look of your armour without altering its stats. This gives you the opportunity to have the best stats on your armour and use the look of the other armour sets you like. In order to get access to this option, you first have to do the Master Armourer’s quest at Crow’s Perch in Velen.

You can take the quest from Fergus and Yoana. These two people need you to help them prove that Yana is fit to become a master armourer. They need you to collect some items and help them create and test the armour. After completing the Master Armourer’s quest, you will be able to use the armour appearance feature.
Where to Change Your Armour Appearance
Once you have finished the quest, come back to Yana at Crow’s Perch. Yoana is located near Fergus in the armourer’s section. Talk to her and select the dialogue which asks you to make some armour. Now, you will see an option called Reforge in the game. The Reforge menu lets you change the appearance of your equipped armour while keeping its original stats.
How Armour Transmog Works

The armour you want to use for appearance should be in your inventory. It is not possible to choose armour from the stash as your appearance. It is possible to change the appearance of each part of the armour, which includes:
- Armor
- Trousers
- Boots
- Gloves
Reforge will be paid for in crowns, which might differ according to the piece of armour and the selected appearance. Once you select the changes, the item will retain the same properties while taking the new appearance of the armour.
How to Change the Appearance Back
You can also return your armour to its original appearance whenever you want. You only have to talk to Yana once again and access the Reforge screen, where you will see your armour along with its available appearances.
Reverting an appearance is less expensive than adding a new one. How much it costs depends on the particular piece of armour you are changing. There is also an eye icon that the game adds to the particular armour piece.
How to Transmog Weapons
To transmog a weapon, head to Hattori in the Novigrad Docks after completing the Of Swords and Dumplings quest. Speak to him and select Reforge. Choose the weapon you want to change, then select another weapon in your inventory to use its appearance. Confirm the change and pay the required cost to give your weapon the new look without changing its stats.
Note: Transmogging weapons and armor will require money, so do stock up on it before you try to upgrade your gear’s appearance.
