Grapple Hook is a good addition in the latest 1.0 update for Valheim, which allows players to explore difficult terrain much more easily. It allows the player to move towards a wall or cliff, enabling them to reach places which were impossible otherwise. But obtaining the Grapple Hook involves materials found in the Mistlands, where players need the Hook that cannot be crafted by themselves.

How to Get the Grapple Hook

To make the Grapple Hook, you need 1 Hook, 4 Mandibles, 10 Refined Eitr, and 10 Yggdrasil Wood. Most of these materials can be found in the Mistlands, so you will need to reach this biome first. After obtaining all the materials, you need to take them to the Black Forge to craft it.

If you don’t want to hunt for the materials, you can also spawn it in your game using the console command GrapplingHook. Press F5 to bring up the devcommands console, then copy and paste this code in to have it work.

How to Find the Hook

You can get Hooks from Infested Mines located in the Mistlands. There are usually small secret rooms with sigils on the stones. There might be chests in these rooms, and there is a possibility that one of them would contain a Hook. You cannot craft the Hook yourself, and you might have to explore several dungeons to get one. It is particularly necessary when playing with friends, as you might need to check several dungeons in case you all want your Grappling Hook.

How to Get Mandibles

You can obtain Mandibles by killing Seeker Soldiers in the Mistlands. Seeker Soldiers are quite common in this biome, and therefore it will not be hard for you to gather the four required Mandibles.

How to Get Yggdrasil Wood

Yggdrasil Trees can be found in abundance within the Mistlands Biome. A Blackmetal Axe will be required in order to chop down these trees for their wood. If you are a beginner player who wants to explore the Mistlands Biome, then you should make sure that you have the proper equipment with you.

How to Get Refined Eitr

To craft Refined Eitr, you will require two other ingredients: Sap and Soft Tissue. You can get Sap by placing a Sap Extractor right on the Ancient Roots. You need to venture out to Mistlands to find them. As for Soft Tissue, you can get it from defeating Dvergr mages and rogues.

You can also farm them from Giant Skulls in Mistlands and Putrid Holes flesh mounds in Ashlands. Use a Black Metal pickaxe to increase your chances of obtaining Soft Tissue. Then, add both materials to the Eitr Refinery to get Refined Eitr. You can also use the spawn code Eitr to get them.

How to Use the Grapple Hook

The Grapple Hook proves highly beneficial while travelling through the Mistlands. Simply aim it towards a point which can grab hold of the Grapple Hook, and you will be pulled towards it. It can help you travel either horizontally or vertically based on your need and firing direction. It is also capable of grabbing objects that are quite far from each other.

But there is one thing that you should watch out for: the Stamina bar. The Grapple Hook utilises stamina; therefore, you can run out of stamina if you keep travelling with it continuously for a long time. During the period you are suspended with the help of the Grapple Hook, you start descending slowly if nothing is pressed. Pressing the jump button pulls you towards the place where the Grapple Hook is fixed.
