Here, we’ve outlined everything you need to know for completing the questline in Marathon which requires you to find the Necrotic Sample, inject it into the Southern Flight Control located at the busy airfield, and use certain gears as your strategic choice for gameplay. The guide covers how to locate the Necrotic sample, provides directions for you to navigate through the Flight Control building, and helps you properly scan your shell so that you can complete this part of the game easily.

Preparing for the Quest

To succeed at this challenge, head over to Southern Flight control at the airfield, which is located in the center of the map (Outpost). There will be a lot of players attempting this challenge and fighting; therefore, you must bring good gear, not your best ones, though. By using this method, you will be able to survive against both bots and other players while not risking your top-tier equipment.

Finding the Necrotic Sample

Locate the flight control building at the airfield which has a long stairwell that you’ll need to ascend. Climb the stairs, take left, and walk down the hall so that you are at the first door on your right side just across the window panels. Enter the work room area located on the other side; you will not need to access through the door, but rather enter from the air vent that connects this room to the other room where you can grab a Necrotic sample from the drawer.

Scanning Your Shell to Complete the Quest

Next, head southeast to the outdoor orientation area and find your way to the second floor. Go all the way back and into the back room to find a station where you can scan your shell and complete this objective. To the west, there are two blue buildings with a blue bridge connecting them with the “NuCaloric” symbol on the upper part of the tower or the warehouse, which indicates the objective point.
