In your progression through Where Winds Meet, some bosses will reappear later as regular enemies, and others will be story-specific. The God of Avarice is the former and is a story boss in Kaifeng.
You’ll encounter him on the natural course of the main quest line around level 54. Nothing special has to be completed on the side.

God of Avarice Boss Location

Kaifeng is the secondary area, the second largest region after Qinghe, and has a totally different story tone. Once you uncover the central city by exploring the map NPC, you will see two campaign boss signs.
Story Progression Path

| Final | God of Avarice |
God of Greed is fought towards the end of the Furnace of Righteousness sequence, positioned within the huge furnace, which is a major highlight throughout.

Boss Summary
What is noteworthy in this fight is that there are three stages, though only the third is considered to be a real fight since the third is a kind of survival test.
| Phase | Focus |
| Phase One | Melee and projectile attack delays |
| Phase Two | High damage, Greed mechanism |
| Phase Three | Ranged Weak-point Mechanic |
Phase One: Delayed Attacks

The God of Avarice fights using a one-handed weapon and low health points, but his attacks are deliberately slowed.
Key Things to Watch For:
- Slightly delay your deflect timing to avoid incorrectly timed counters
- Orbs are firing small projectiles while continuing their attack
- A levitating centre-stage attack with lasers and projectiles.
How to handle it:
- Sidestep projectiles rather than Panic Dodging
- When he is floating, move away from the centre and then start strafing to the side
- Avoid the laser at all costs; it triggers a serious damage animation
After learning the timing of this stage, it will end soon.
Phase Two: Greed and Burst Damage

This will start Phase Two. This phase has been known to be more difficult than Phase One. During this phase, the boss will use dual weapons. Its attack speed will be faster, in addition to doing more damage.
| Mechanic | How to Deal With It |
| Money Slam | Dodge immediately; Near one-shot damage. |
| Magician Charge | If the ball is white, deflect it. If it’s yellow, then dodge |
| Thrown Weapon Spin | Rapidly deflects or dodges |
| Money Piles | Optional reward for risk |
Collecting money piles rewards 10 Echo Jades; however, filling up Greed Bar piles will paralyse you for a short while. It’s best not to go near them unless you’re sure.
Near the end of this phase, the boss will receive a yellow coin shield. To eliminate this shield, simply attack or block.
(Note: To enter this phase, better equipment and endurance are recommended.)
Phase Three: Weak Point Test

The final stage is concerned with survival and accuracy, and not damage.
You cannot attack your boss. Instead:
- Dodge and deflect attacks
- Look out for a glowing red eye on his weapon
- Shoot it with your bow when it comes out
Each successful hit reduces his HP/shield bar by one-third. Hit him three times to win this battle.
