In Grounded 2, resources need to be gathered to make progress through the initial stages of the game. Two of the most helpful resources you’ll need to gather early on in the game are Weed Stems and Flower Petals. Weed Stems are required so that bigger buildings like the Hatchery can be built, which is necessary for breeding and riding Red Soldier Ants, and Flower Petals are required to create some decorative and functional things.
While both of these items are fairly easy to harvest, both have their own harvesting technique and tool requirement. Below is a step-by-step walkthrough that will guide you through how to harvest Weed Stems and Flower Petals correctly and what to do with them once harvested.
Where to Find Weed Stems

There are two primary sources of Weed Stems in Grounded 2:
1. Grass Flowers (Early Game Method)

The simplest way to obtain Weed Stems early in the game is to cut down Grass Flowers. They’re a species of tall grass that has visible seed heads on top, making them easy to identify. The great thing about them is that they can be harvested with a mere Level 1 Omni-Axe.
Grass Flowers grow abundant around the Snackbar Ranger Outpost, which should be around the area of your starting base position. These can be harvested to gain a decent amount of Weed Stems that can be utilized to construct early-game structures like walls, floors, and the Hatchery.
2. Husky Weeds (Advanced Method)

Later in the game, once you’ve unlocked the use of the Omni-Axe II, you’ll have the capability to harvest Husky Weeds, which reward you with more Weed Stems per plant. These are heavier, hardier weeds that grow in much of the park and require improved tools to cut down.
To forge the Omni-Axe II, you’ll need to farm Blueberry Leather and Roach Chunks, so more long exploring and battling, especially in areas like the Ice Cream Truck location or the Picnic Table.
Tip: Weed Stems, like Grass Planks, must be carried by hand. If you’re going to harvest a lot, you may want to construct a Stem Pallet in your base to store them for ease and organization.
Where to Obtain Flower Petals

Flower Petals are a more specific material utilized in the production of both decorative and functional objects such as the Berry Chair, Bounce Web, and Grinder. Flower Petals can be found under large flowering plants, particularly where flowers tend to naturally drop their petals on the ground.
Best Places to Farm Flower Petals:
- North of the Big Pond: Venture past the Oak Tree and exit along the north side of the pond. This is covered in fallen petals from flowers above.
- East of the Oak Tree (Rose Garden Zone): Roses here shed petals every so often, and you can also attack the flowers themselves to make more petals fall.
- Simply walk up to the dropped petals and pick them up from the ground, or slay the flowered flora with your sword for a bigger yield.
Unlocking Recipes with Flower Petals
Now that you have some Flower Petals, go to any Field Station to scan them. This will unlock several crafting recipes that are required for base building and utility upgrades. Some of them are:
- Berry Chair – a decoration furniture
- Bounce Web – a trampoline-like surface to travel vertically
- Grinder – a workbench to refine materials
- Keep the Flower Petal in your inventory before using the analyzer.
Weed Stems and Flower Petals are both valuable resources in Grounded 2 with unique but important applications. Grass Flowers are a reliable early source of Weed Stems, and Flower Petals are something that you can collect around flowering plants and research to unlock helpful recipes. As you advance and gain better tools, more effective ways of harvesting are introduced, which will enable you to develop your base and equipment throughout the game.
