With the launch of The Edge of Fate expansion, Destiny 2 brings the Graviton Spike, a new Exotic Hand Cannon that combines stylish looks with hard-hitting energy-based gameplay. This is one Exotic that players don’t simply get; instead, they have to complete a multi-part questline that heavily involves the expansion’s mechanics and lore.

Starting the Quest: Graviton Through the Ages

Begin the questline by first finishing The Edge of Fate’s last campaign mission, The Message. Next, go to the Altar of Relativity and retrieve the Exotic quest called Graviton Through the Ages. This 15-step quest has some simple interactions, but you will also have some puzzle elements and movement mechanics exclusive to Kepler.

Finding Weapon Piece #1 – Outer Steppes

After you talk to Lodi and the Emeritus in Caldera, the first mission will bring you to the Outer Steppes, which is in the top-left corner of the Kepler map. After you fast travel there, create a waypoint for convenient travel and head towards a structure with a huge metallic antenna. In the back of it, there’s a Rosetta Sentry—kill it to gain access to a terminal nearby.

  • Once you’ve turned on the terminal, charge three Pylons with Matterspark:
  • One in the back of the building.
  • Another close to a ventilation shaft.
  • The third along a cliffside next to a teleporter.
  • Once they’re all charged, the door opens and you’re able to retrieve the piece of the weapon inside. Go back to the Emeritus to continue.

Finding Weapon Piece #2 – The Gorge

Your second location is The Gorge, which can be reached from Assimilated Easement in the map’s southwest. Make your way through the maze-like environment by application of Mattermorph to wall-blocking walls until you’re in a central room that Vex guards. Locate another Rosetta Sentry here as well as a terminal concealed behind debris.

To gather the weapon piece, you will again have to talk to Mattermorph and Matterspark. Flip a hidden teleporter, then head down a path through a cave and one based on a wall. Later, you’ll find a secret room behind a breakable wall. Use Mattermorph to destroy and get the second piece. Return to Lodi later.

Finding Weapon Piece #3 – Exile’s Accord

Fast travel to Curtilage Divide and flag Augur’s Bethel to start this section. Continue down the linear path into a big chamber containing Fallen enemies. Navigate through a train car and find an open pipe hatch in the ceiling. Outside is a Relocator—use it to travel to a different location.

Proceed through the maze, and be certain to utilize Matterspark to engage with a particular portal within a wall with mushrooms and bulbs. Proceed forward, employ another Relocator at the other end of the chamber, and teleport again. At the conclusion of this segment, you will discover the fourth weapon piece in waiting.

Discovering Weapon Piece #4 – Ionian Campus

This segment of the mission is centered on combat over navigation. Start by killing Vex enemies in Kepler to gain Data Fragments. The HUB region is a safe spot to farm. Talk to an adjacent Vex terminal to trigger an ongoing wave event, making farming easier. After sufficient fragments have been obtained, your goal moves to the Ionian Campus.

Make your way through a laser-guarded doorway to an outdoor area where a Relocator is being held by a crane. Find Mattermorph in a red box there, use it to shoot out the cage, and collect the Relocator. Teleport through the newly opened door to pick up the last piece of Graviton Spike. Make your way back again to Lodi.
