Tainted Grail: The Fall of Avalon takes us into a creepy, enshrouded and enigmatic world. You’ll stumble across several mysterious encounters and secrets of the world, from sickening facts to ancient horrors. One such instance happens at the Horns of the South, where a mighty creature awaits you, the Mistbearer. You can beat this secret boss however, it isn’t a part of the main storyline.

How to Beat Mistbearer Boss?

Location of the Boss

The Mistbearer makes its home in the Ancient Cave, located in the northern reaches of the Horns of the South. This ominous cave lies northwest of the All-Mother’s Temple, just beyond the Ancient Cromlech.

Take the route of twists and turns upwards—don’t worry about taking out a few enemies on the way—and you’ll be in front of a large gate, which is how you get into the cave. Taranis, an enigmatic NPC, will meet you inside. Speak to him at great length (don’t attempt to fight him), and this will trigger the “Whispers in the Dark” quest, which will immediately lead up to your battle with the boss.

Move from there along the twisting cave network until you reach an ample, cavernous space cluttered with a mighty, dead tree. Approach the tree to initiate the boss fight.

How to Beat the Mistbearer Boss?

Its air is thick with mist and ominousness. The Mistbearer has three phases, and each one is more illusory than the last. While difficulty level may be based on your game settings, seasoned gamers will find that the fight is less about raw power and more about timing and patience.

Recommended Setup

  • Weapons: Fast melee weapons, such as swords or two daggers, are best suited due to the evasive nature of the Mistbearer and the teleportation-based assault.
  • Spells: Blood Transfusion is helpful in the second stage, where healing is achieved by draining power from the summoned minions.

Phase-by-Phase Breakdown

Phase One – Summoning the Mistlings

The Mistbearer begins by summoning Mistlings, shadowy minions that buzz around the arena. During this phase, the Mistbearer stays suspended at the centre, protected by its spectral retinue. Attack its head to deal massive damage, ideally with heavy melee or pinpoint ranged attacks. Avoid getting caught off guard by the Mistlings—kill them quickly when they bunch up, and avoid lingering in one spot.

Phase Two – Vanishing Fog and Minions

After the Mistbearer has sustained sufficient damage, it disappears into a whirlwind of mist and releases more Mistlings. This is where the battle becomes disorderly. While the boss is concealed, your attention should be on clearing the Mistlings.

They will cause sufficient damage in groups, so eliminate them as soon as possible. Blood Transfusion here if low on health—it’s a great time to drain life from weaker foes. When the mist dissipates, the Mistbearer returns—blast quickly and decisively.

Phase Three – The Illusion Game

Its final action is to generate a number of clones. The arena is now in disarray of illusions as you struggle to locate the actual boss. Fortunately, the clones shatter at first hit.

Cut your way through doppelgängers until the true Mistbearer appears. When you land a few solid hits, the boss will begin to disintegrate. Keep your guard up—it might attempt one last flurry of punches before collapsing in defeat.
