Deep within the heart of the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, danger awaits. Varan is sly and cruel in all means, he lets you pick which one to assassinate – either Shah or Roosevelt – to claim his heavy prize. Still, such a way to winning could only end with something catastrophic. Whatever choice you decide for killing either of them or for no matter whom, it’ll prove dire.
Should You Kill The Shah Or Roosevelt
Varan gives you a tough choice: either take 20,000 coupons, or choose one of his rival gang leaders, Roosevelt or Shah, to eliminate. In reality, you have four different ways to handle this situation in the “King of the Hill” quest. No matter if you kill Shah, Roosevelt, or both, your ending with Varan will always be the same. He’ll act friendly and tell you to talk to a prisoner for the information you need. But it’s a trap. The prisoner is already dead, and Varan will order his men to kill you.
Kill Varan
If you kill Varan right away, you can take a key from his body. This key will unlock a cell where another body is. You can then search that body to find a special PDA. However, after you take the PDA, you’ll either need to kill all of Varan’s men or run away to escape.
Should You Kill The Shah
Killing Shah isn’t as easy as it seems. There’s no secret entrance this time, and you only have two ways to do it without raising suspicion. The first involves the “No Honor Among Thieves” side quest. If you choose to kill Docent, you’ll discover the location of Shah’s first stash. This information will allow you to bring Shah’s Mate to the doorman, who will then let you in. After finishing the quest if you don’t kill Docent, Huron will guide you to a secret path leading to the Brood’s lair.
This hidden route offers a safer and smarter way to enter their territory. Or you’ll have to fight your way through a bunch of tough guards. Once inside, you’ll need to find Shah on the second floor. Killing him won’t immediately affect the story, but it will leave Garbage vulnerable to either Roosevelt or Varan. No matter how you decide to eliminate Shah, you’ll need to grab his PDA from his body and return to Varan to progress the story.
Should You Kill Roosevelt
To target Roosevelt, you’ll need to deal with the leader of the Commissary, located near the Slag Heap. There, you’ll meet Borodulin, a quirky drunkard who can help you. To gain his trust, you’ll need to assist him in fighting off some mutants, making sure he survives. After helping him a second time, he’ll subject you to a bizarre test: dodging his gunfire for 60 seconds. If you survive, he’ll reveal a secret entrance to the Commissary through the surrounding pipes. Once inside, you can confront Roosevelt and his men.
Should You Kill both The Shah Or Roosevelt
Varan won’t give you anything extra for killing both Shah and Roosevelt. He’s not going to reward you, and he’ll eventually betray you anyway. But killing them both will let you access their hidden stashes, which contain valuable loot. Remember to take the PDAs from their bodies. These devices will show you the exact locations of the stashes. If you miss the PDAs, you’ll lose the chance to find the loot.
Shah Stash
You can find a special gun called Shah’s Mate in a secret stash. It’s hidden in a hole in the wall, near a tunnel in Garbage. This tunnel is between the Poisonous Hole and the Maze. But watch out! A dangerous mutant called a Bloodsucker will attack you once you grab the gun. Shah’s Mate is a unique, customized gun owned by Shah, the leader of the Brood gang. It’s a powerful version of the Viper-5 pistol, with extra features and better stats than the regular one. You won’t find another gun like it anywhere in Garbage!
Roosevelt Stash
The secret stash is in the Cement Factory area, close to Garbage and Wild Island. If you’ve unlocked the Jager fast travel point, you can quickly get there. From Jager, just go a short distance south, and you’ll find the building where the stash is hidden. You will find medi kits, ammo and a M860 Shotgun.
