In the Dragon Age: The Veilguard, there’s a tricky puzzle in the Arlathan Forest. You have to find three special devices called beam generators. Once you power them up, you need to aim their beams at faraway targets called energy nodes. But the problem is, there are obstacles in the way, and a powerful enemy guarding the treasure chest at the end. You’ll need to use your character’s skills to clear the path, power up the generators, and defeat the boss to claim the prize.
Forest Mire & Waterfront Glades Beam Generator Puzzle
In the Arlathan Forest, there’s a challenging puzzle involving the Forest Mire and Waterfront Glades. To unlock the chest in the center of a lake, you’ll need to activate three beam generators scattered around the area. Each beam has to be precisely aimed at distant energy nodes, requiring careful positioning and a bit of strategy to solve.
First Generator Location
Start by fast-traveling to the Beacon northeast of the Veil Jumpers camp, placing you in the Ancient Aqueduct. From here, head east and climb a ladder to enter the Forest Mire. Cross a fallen log, then enlist Harding to move a rock, allowing Rook to climb up to a higher ledge. Summon Lace’s powers to push two stones across the river, forming a bridge. Find the inactive beam generator on top of the hill, then drop down to a working generator below. Aim it at the Energy Node under the initial generator to power it up, and finally, redirect this newly active generator toward the distant Energy Node on the island.
Second Generator Location
From the first generator, jump down and head northwest to find the second generator hidden behind some foliage. Look for a statue surrounded by crates nearby, where you’ll discover a Power Crystal. Use this crystal to activate the generator, then aim it at the same Energy Node on the island to further stabilize the pathway.
Third Generator Location
For the last beam generator, turn around and go up a set of stairs, then head left toward a fallen tree log. Open a small gate to find a glowing blue barrier. Grab another Power Crystal to disable the barrier, then place it on the nearby Energy Node to activate the generator. Finally, align the beam with a distant node, completing the path to the island. Be cautious, as a level 26 Guardian of Secrets boss guards the chest.
The Keeper is tough and has a shield that blocks standard attacks, so rely on skills and companion abilities to break through. Watch your party’s health closely and use potions or healing abilities as needed, as the Keeper can inflict heavy damage. Once you defeat it, you can open the chest to obtain a unique light helm called the Iron Veil. Mages will find this helm especially valuable, as it causes defeated enemies to explode with necrotic energy, adding extra magical power to Rook’s abilities. You’ll also receive two rare Royal Elfroot springs, perfect for crafting powerful items.
